| | | A friend of mine has been looking up sites nearby, and has heard about a place called the START Centre asylum. Anyone got any clues?
It seemed like a good idea at the time. |

| | | News to me. Copy-6 might know something. I do know that the START center closed sometime before 2004. There's also Midwestern Regional Centre, near Palmerston. Anyone know about that place? C. P.S. Never mind. MRC was redeveloped into a community for seniors. Poop. [last edit 1/13/2006 1:42 PM by Crossfire - edited 1 times]

| | | Crossfire speaks the truth . . I have a sort of UE Fetish for Mental Health Centres. The St. Thomas Adult Rehabilitation and Training (START) Centre was shut down in 1985 but not completely abandoned. The forensic mental health services unit was relocated to the centre sometime in 1999. Services provided by START were decentralized to London, Waterloo and Windsor. The centre is located on 467 Sunset drive in St. Thomas but is not completely abandoned to the best of my knowledge. If anyone has any further info, post or drop me a PM

| | | Kitchenerite born and raised. lived here my whole life. I wish I'd had the guts to do this about 6 or 7 years ago when the old building on the corner of Duke and Weber was still standing... GOD I loved that place. Anyone know what I'm talking about? it's now a fancy looking plaza with a tanning salon. Kitty-Corner to the Canadian Cancer Society offices... | | | I'm just going to go ahead and set a date and place... As for the building you're talking about - yeah, I know that place. There's a huge spa in there now. The other place was the old Bauer skate factory just a little further down, where Execulink is located now. There was also the Station Hotel which burned down 3 or 4 years ago. And St.Jerome's, which half burned. Alot has been lost, but there's still a lot to be seen. Recently, Guelph has been spitting up some neat little gems. C.

This is the location of the St. Thomas psychiatric hospital, which is mostly active still. Just a couple of closed wings. Be aware that there is an OPP station right beside the hospital.
