| | Economic Boot/Shoe choice for UE? < on 5/24/2006 3:51 AM >
| | | Well? I'm looking for some sort of comfortable, but safe boot or shoe. Something that I could easily bike in but also explore in. I am in Toronto if that matters. I was thinking of checking out MEC, but I've heard they can be pretty expensive. Anyone have any other tips?

| | | There about 300 different conversations on it. A good pair of combat boots are great for protection, but many here are equally happy with some sneakers. Check the links and ask about specific posts you have read.

Now the two key words for tonight - "caution" and "flammable"...

| | | I'd recommend something with a shank and some kind of safety toe (steel or composite, don't think it 'really' matters which other then the composite ones should be a lil warmer for long winter outings) also having side-zips is rather nice Personally I like my Bates Ultra-lites, although they are badly designed for climbing ropes, but work well enough.. Bottom line you'll never know if ya like the boot untill you actually break a pair in and abuse the hell outa them..

| | | I usually wear my steel toed tennis shoes or combat boots. Both styles are cheap & durable.

I have changed my personal exploring ethics code. From now on it will be: "Take only aimed shots, leave only hobo corpses." Copper scrappers, meth heads and homeless beware. The Jonsered cometh among you, bringing fear and dread. |

| | | I always find this controversial but boots have +, and new balance type runners have +. I know from experience DONT WEAR CHUCKS! i have had nails in my feet, and squeeky times but they are comfortable and stuff. so its all personal
