Well I went out to go look at something I had spotted from the Gardner and didn't have much luck. (Anybody know what that red brick building is beside the abbatoire at the foot of Tucumseth is?)
Sooooo I took the scenic route back home along the tracks and came across this little spot. It is tucked away behind Strachan & Canniff. Access is easy, but it is right beside an active apartment building.
Nothing special, but if you are in the area, check it out. There are 3 large bays on the west side. One of which has a little loft up top, as you will see in the pics. There is even access to the roof, but I didn't want to go up in the daylight so close to the neighbours.
It appears to have belonged to "John B. Smith & Sons ltd.", -an old lumber company. I don't know what used to be here. Perhaps a storage/holding spot on the railway.

That's cool.. The inside of the building, like on the 3rd picture looks really cool. I like the brickwork, I guess and yea... Really cool!

Oh cool, I've never spotted that building before. On the other side of that wall in the 4th last picture, there is a small hang out spot most likely for homeless people right beside the train tracks. I saw it a few months ago and stuff may have changed since then.

An interesting building, I've spotted it many times passing by but never went to explore it. The thing that caught my eye the most was the "wall of doors" (seen in the 2nd photo)

There was probably a railroad siding going into it at one point in time.

Great pics. I wonder what the story is behind this location?

EDIT: I Googled the name John B. Smith & Sons and found some info that indicates it has some ties to a lumber mill in the community of Callander, ON.

Hey Gang,

Once again, thanks for all the good feedback. All of you people inspire me to go out and make my own little discoveries.

Like I said, it was nothing too exciting, but definitely worth the look if you are nearby.

The suitcase was empty, pretty light....but I got distracted and forgot to open it.

I cant remember if all the junk on the other side of the fence at the hobo hangout was still there. Therewas some sketchy guy sitting by the tracks, so I just looked away and rounded the corner

Motorcycle was stripped, of course.

Thanks Yokes. Is the Destructor worth a look? I did a brief scout, but my "spidey senses" said today was not the day to go in.

Mr. Fuzzy & CowboyPenner, -yeah my little google search indicated there was a John B Smith siding there.

And Air 33. yes, it is behind there. To the east is an active little garden.

Time to dig up an old thread (puts offishall UER shovel aside).

Going by JBS&S recently, i noticed the wall of doors and part of the canopy was demolished. wonder what they're up to now.

Keep it fuzzy.

Its only accessible when workers are around. Its no where near as easy as it once was.But Symes is still around.

True true. Symes (was there today in the other building onsite) is like a mini destructor.
