|  | | | Been meaning to post this for a while, just so busy lately...
So a few weeks ago I had to bring the wife out to Greely, so I thought I'd pack up some gear and check this place out:

It turns out that that the place has become even more "severely trashed" than the last time Mutt and a couple others were there in 2004 - most notably, no more roof.  Luckily it had been raining lightly all day, and it added some atmosphere to the place.
I took this (well, several and then stitched together) from a windowsill:
The full size version is in the DB if anyone wants to see it.
It is clear that the place has been set ablaze at least once in the past, as the walls have been busted up everywhere by firefighters looking for hot spots.
And... could it be?? The lighter that started it all? :)

I climbed up maybe 40 feet, but a neighbour was observing my climb from her backyard... when she went inside I figured I wouldn't stick around to find out why.

| | | | Some day you should make the full climb to the top. The view is quite nice. Just watch out for that large bolt that sticks out of the topmost dish mount, it will take a chunk of your scalp off, like it did mine.
I like the cable support shot. Good stuff.

| | | | I got some time today to check out the place, was able to drive right up to the building from hwy 31 (someone forgot to lock the gate to one of the quarries). I also managed to climb to the top of the tower to take some pics but after getting to the top my batteries ran out. I snapped some pics before climbing the tower but they're no different from hedd's. neat place!

| | | | me and some buddies rent a small garage near greely on rideau rd. yesterday we took a tour of the area behind the shop, which was more or less an illegal dumping ground and came across some discarded radar/ satellite equipement including a big ass dish, 80's style computer stacks and radio equipement. some pretty cool stuff, we stripped most of the electronics wires, switches and relays but managed to snag a few shots before hand
