| | Abandoned Farmland < on 9/14/2006 3:33 PM >
| | | My future wife and I did a lot of driving this summer. We stopped to eat at this truck-stop and just down the road from it was this abandoned farm. While eating we decided that we were going to check it out. Since then whenever we go somewhere and see an abandoned place like this we stop and check it out. I think I have some pictures of another place we explored just outside of Ridgetown (small town in south-western Ontario). I'll post them if I can find them.
Outside of the farm house.
| Inside the house.
| This pop machine looked like it was going to fall through to the basement so we didn't get too close.
| A boot, yee haw!
| A small barn.
| In the barn we found pile upon pile of old income tax information for the farm. We also found a form for the execution of some guy. It was signed and everything. Weird.

| | | W00t! This is already in the DB, as a private location. I'm not telling you this in order to belittle your efforts, though. Not my any means. I just thought that you might like to know, since you can't see it. Nice pics. It's a good location. Also, breakfast at that truck stop is yum.

Are you serious? That's awesome! I'm just happy to be able to post my finds in a community that is geared towards this kind of stuff.

| | | Yeah, the pop machine, and the overall shape of the house (Architecturally very interesting for rural central Ontario, isn't it) was a dead giveaway. I recognized it immediately, although I've never actually been there, despite enjoying breakfasts at the truck stop so much. I'm glad you posed your pics! Keep it up!

| | | Thanks for the pics Brian. Welcome to the site. Most of what is abandoned around my area are farms as well and they have a charm of their own that sets them apart from your typical house. Some of them may have only served one family over many generations and it makes you wonder what ultimately beckoned their demise. hope to see some more pics and don't worry about them being in the database. Soon enough you will hit on one that is undocumented here (UER) That pop machine is a cool find I remember when i was a kid my junk collecting dad bringing home a pop machine that served those little bottles of coke. I was the hit of the neighbourhood until he decided to sell it
Calvin: It's a magical world, Hobbes, Ol' Buddy . . . let's go exploring! |
