I wish I was cool enough to do matrix moves on doors...

Oh yes, ha ha ha, that is so funny, ha ha ha. You do not see my funny? laughter inside, like sitting bull looking to TV seeing dances with wolves kissing president.

It wasn't a computer game, I genuinely did kick a door down. What is so fantastic about kicking a door down that forces you to not beleive me?

The frame was rotten to the bone, trust me it was no suprise that it fell out of the doorframe like that.

I walked into the room, and removed the board blocking up the window.

And you find the need to kick down this door....why? Couldn't you have just exited via the window?

I will say that if were stuck in one of UAF's "student traps" or something I would have absolutely no qualms in kicking the shit out of the gate until it set me free.

There's an ethical question in itself - if you were caught in such a trap [see Freak's description above] and knew that the authorities would soon be coming for you, would you destroy it to get out or wait to be caught?

I wouldn't risk damaging anything major (ie. kicking a door down). What if I busted through the door just as they came up to it? Then I'd be in much worse shape than if I was just caught and fined for trespassing. I would, of course, try many ways to get out.

Maybe I'd hide up on the ceiling like they do in all those movies, and when they can't find me I'll drop down and run out of there!

Ok you wanna try jumping out of that window then do ya? Be my guest, we'd be minus 1 asshole.

Simply put; if I had jumped out of that window to escape, I'd be dead, or seriously injured. It was on the second story. Jumping out of the window I would've fallen some 6 meters down to sea level, then fell another 2 meters onto the carpark. That's an 8 meter drop for those of you who can't add up.

The maximum height most humans can withstand with proper training, jumping from a wall onto solid concrete, is 3.5 meters. 8 meters is more than twice that.

The added 2 meter drop is because one side of the building is on higher ground than the other side.

Oh and by the way, the door slamming shut was no "trap". It shut because I took the boards off the window and a gust of air came in.

Why take the boards off of the window? Honestly, I think that constitutes vandalization of the site which I do my best to avoid. What was the reason? I go into buildings to see more of "in" rather than to look out from inside.

I took the boards off the window because I wanted to see the inside of the room properly (this was before I had the nightvision or practically any kit at all). I put the board back, and the door actually. Although the door I'll admit will never be quite the same again.

Unlike america/canada, abandoned buildings in the UK don't have all these mod cons like internal lighting and running water.

Please note everyone that I do NOT condone vandalism. Do your best, all of you, to avoid getting into a situation where you have to kick the door down. I kicked the door down because I had no other choice, which is no excuse to kick a door down in any other circumstances.

Thanks.

Ehh... I do hope you meant to say 'without' proper training there. 'cuz hell, 3.5 meters = about 10.5 feet. I know for a fact that I've jumped down from places higher than that - its all a matter of what you think your limits are.

And also... if you're trying to get out of a second-story window or something, use this little trick to cut down some of the falling distance: Climb out the window and -hang- there along the side of the building. If you can dangle to your arms' full extension, this can cut almost 10 feet off of your drop (if you're ~= 6').

As I said though... its all about knowing your personal limits.

8 metres is about 26 feet. Hanging down, you'd have a distance of about 16 feet to drop. I've dropped that far before with no injury whatsoever. I've also flown through the air off of a sportbike at 60km/h and touched down about 30 feet away. Again, with no injury. A 16 foot drop isn't that difficult to make safely...

Blame the game designers. He was probably low on life points, hadn't saved in a while, and didn't want to have to redo the level.

I'm sure that no Canadian Ninja(tm) would hesitate to jump out of a second-story window... and doubtless the folks at the SUENM do third and even fourth floor windows, naked, in the middle of hurricanes, regularly. And that LoneWolf2 guy from down under has probably done it hundreds of times, because he's all cool like that.

I mean... you couldn't see the room very well, didn't have any nightvision kit, or even one of those super-rare flashlights, yet still had the equipment and ability (including to see) to remove the boards over the window in the dark, then...

Really does sound like a fun game, though. Is it available for PC's, or it it one of them console-only things? Or was it an online MUSH?

Why are you guys picking on him? Of course you can kick down a door like that.

Most people don't train for jumping and falling.

We actually know very little about his situation. What right do we have to make judgements? We should be asking questions, not making snide remarks.

Have a little respect.. this guy is from the UK, and took the time to join us...reserve judgement for later.. but stealthy, that austin powers reference is killing me. "Yeeeaaaah baby (spin kicks the locked door)"

I just wrote a really long post about how I resented you having a problem with my nationality, and your disbelief of how I kicked a door down.

Then I deleted the entire post, after feeling increadably sorry for the guy who started this thread. I mean, he must be pretty pissed after having about 3 or 4 guys come in and just post for the sake of harassing another member.

So either take it somewhere else (IE to PM), or just drop it. Because as far as I can remember, most of what you are saying is against the rules, and if you really hold your ethical respectability so close to your heart, you'll honor those rules right now.

Thanks to RadEd for backing me up.
