What happened to Windows Live Local?

When I hit:
local.live.com/

I get redirected to:
http://intl.local.live.com/

This seems to be a search engine with a ty little MapPoint display alongside the results. What happened to the familiar mapping site with its ever-so-useful Bird's Eye View?

http://local.live.com works for me, don't know why it's acting screwy for you.

It's acting screwy for me too. No map, no sat images, but the site opens otherwise; started about a week or two ago. I thought the site was down, but the behavior persists. WTF?

Just when I thought I was out... they pulled me back in.

The site is unchanged; my Firefox options had "load images from originating websites only" enabled. oops.

Alot of work need to be done on that site...google earth still ownes...i think local live is only good if you live in like NYC or some city close to the same size because of the "close up view".

I've also noticed this issue but I'm running linux and if they upgraded to past flash 7, thats probably the issue for me an maybe you. Course I could be totally off base with this theory, but it's the best I can come up with atm.

The site still has bird's eye view, but not all areas. You must pan down to smaller size for that option to appear if present.

FF tools > options > content > check "load images", and uncheck "from originating website only". Java and Java script must be enabled, and you may need to let MS place a cookie for the site to function correctly.

This didn't work for me, but I was having the same problem and upgrading to Firefox 2.0 fixed it.

I haven't really had any issues with it, just have to remember that the "bird's eye" view is only available in metropolitan areas.

Wonderful, it's fried again. The yellow "Loading" bar appears at the top of the screen...and doesn't go away. I tried adding local.live to my ZoneAlarm trusted sites lists, but that did precisely dick.

Live.local + Canada = crap

Google Earth is the only way to go in Canada, imo.

Yeah, I use safari and I just get the Where and What things. No map comes up at all, and when I search it does nothing.

This isn't boot camp and you are not a ninja. But you sure look like an idiot in that outfit.

There's nothing wrong with the site. FF 2.0 kicks. Real time spell check, wow. Anyone who's having trouble, your browser isn't configured correctly.

Google Earth is the only way to go in Canada, imo.

But even then, the maps and aerials are over 5 years old now. There are new roads in my town (2 years old now) that aren't reflected in Google or any of the other online map sites. I think it's about time "they" update the maps and aerials.
