Access All Areas = required reading for rookies

My first thread in the rookie column thank you. And its not a classified add or a book review. I derive no financial benefit nor am I associated with the author or publisher in any way.

If you really want to get started in urban exploring (or already experienced and want to learn more) you will find a wealth of useful information not to mention hours of enjoyment by reading this book. Best 20 bucks you will spend on your new hobby/art.

Access All Areas a users guide to the art of urban exploration by Ninjalicious
ISBN 0-9737787-0-9

The author says its meant for the entry level explorer but Ive found many useful ideas and greatly enjoyed all the wisdom Chapman shares in his book. I think it should be required reading for all rookies!

You are not the first to tell what an awesome read that book is. I have it on my Christmas list this year. If I don't get it I will lost certainly be ordering in the PM on the 25th.

A mirage is not an optical illusion. It is a real phenomenon, and one can take photographs of it. The interpretation of the image, however, is up to the fantasy of the human mind.

I ordered my copy three weeks ago & I've been compulsively checking up on my front door step ever since. I'm sure this book is well worth the wait.

I hate to think that this is a hobby where you have to read a book to participate. In my opinion, that is not by nature how UE works.. for me, at least.

That being said, it's a nice little read.

Edit: I guess I'm clarify a bit more by saying that this book is considered "necessary for every explorer" by the same people who are worried that they have everything they need in their utility belt or if they've brought enough grappling hooks along.

It is a nice read, a lot of the areas regarding Social Engineering especially (its amusing the amount of seasoned explorers who could learn a trick or two from this book).

It contains a lot of answers to questions that any new explorer generally has about urban exploration written with a lot of first hand experiences and humour along the way.

Here's a lockpick. It might be handy if you, the master of unlocking, take it with you.

Nobody says it is. For you at least.

Im sure your a pro and dont need a book but what about others? They cant all be as good as you or have your vast experience. Rookies come here looking for a resource and I think this book is a good one, in fact I recommend it to those rookies.

I'll clarify it even further, this is still the rookie forum isnt it? The post (and the book) is directed towards rookies not intuitive experts such as yourself. I didnt see the chapter about grappling hooks and utility belts, is that in the back somewhere?

But youve made your point. if you feel they shouldnt read it they can always just post the same questions over and over and the experts and pros can flame them for not using the search button over and over...

I've bought my copy from ninj himself back in 2005 at Montreal's OPEX. The book is quite awesome, really worth the 20$. Everytime a friend ask me "Uhh why do you go in old building", I give him the book. The next thing I know is that he want to join me in my next exploration.

definitely not required, but definitely worth it!

i've been exploring for fifteen years and i still found things that i had not previously thought of, or experienced. plus, ninj was a pretty intuitive writer. even now, i miss receiving the zine every so often. now the few copies i have i treat like gold.

ninj and his wife put forth so much effort to have this book published... not because he thought he knew everything, but because of his love for the hobby and his desire to share his experiences with everyone he knew, and even those he never met.

Are you now, or have you ever been?

Great book, I bought it when it came out at the Distillery Launch. The zines also are good, I bought a set and have been making way through them through commutes.

Ninj encouraged accessing all areas (intuitive, I know), which is something lost amidst so many new to the hobby. Just reading Infiltration, Ninj discourages merely searching for locations where you can walk in through open doors.

Highly recommended? Sure, it wasn't a book written just for entertainment or profit. There is a utility. Ignoring Ninj's innovations or at least contributions is such a waste.

I got it for christmas, and ill tell yeah, i hate reading books, but i cant put it down! Even though i have explored before i got the book, you learn things that you would not even thought of. There are alot of things that will make you go "ohhhhhhhhhhhh" or "ahh that makes alot of sence".

Good read, its worth it.

Bought it last week at Chapters. Halfway through now, and I have to say it's a great read so far. Some of the insights and ideas it brings up are truly eye-opening. Well worth the money.

I've read it and it's really good. I mean REALLY. I got compies for my friends and my brother who does parcour. Ninj had a great writing voice and injected it with humour.

It actually trancends being a guide about UrbEx and with the section on social engineering becomes a sort of Art of War for the new millenium. Kinda like how Michael Shurtleff's "Audition" can be applied to more than just auditions!

Great canadian literature!
