| | | Posted by Nvr2loud Never had chicken pox, but the Bell's Palsy went away after about 6 weeks. It was more then 3 years ago. Funny thing, I've been searching the net for Bell's Palsy information since this thread started, it seems that there is no longer any discussion of coal exposure, maybe it has been disproven as a possible cause sometime in the past 3 years. During my bell's palsy time, I reasearched everything that I could find about the disorder, many experts at the time agreed with my doctor citing coal exposure as a possible cause... big conincidence I guess! So I am officially removing Bell's Palsy from the thread as a UE related injury or sickness... unless someone can find a link between coal dust and Bell's Palsy.

Hard to believe you never had chicken pox; GET THE VACCINE, NOW!!! If you get the wild version of it as an adult, it will fuck your ass up real bad. It can be fatal. Like I said, it's a very nasty customer, and unlike the other herpes viruses it's primary vector of transmission is by air. It infects the lungs first normally, and then spreads to other major internal organs, the rash/infection of the nerves on the skin is the last stage. If that's not bad enough, anyone having a outbreak of shingle (herpes zoster) can spread it to you by contact. It is very contagious. Shingles is very common. BP is more alarming than dangerous; it's self limiting and self curing.

| | | A few nights ago BinaryZero suggested somebody climb the ladder at this gas station. So, I being the guy that won't say no to something that easy, decided to 'run' up a ladder at a gas station to take a peek on the roof. This was in the middle of a well lit gas station so I was trying to move fast. I was looking at the top of the ladder, and wasn't really focusing on the bottom. Well, the top was round, the bottom wasn't. Put two and two together. WHAM! I fuckin owned my forehead. It still hurts to touch that spot. At first it didn't swell and I was worried that it was swelling inward, but then it did after about 30 minutes.

Ooooh that burns! Nothing that I've ever felt burns like scraping off skin on rock (or asphalt/concrete/bricks). When I used to skate when I was younger, we would sit on our boards and race down this huge hill in my neighbourhood. It had just rained, and I hit a rock or something and my board stopped, but I didn't. I slid maybe 40 yards on my back down that hill. The slickness from the rain just made me go farther and faster. The road ate my shirt and most of my back. Roof shingles hurt too. ;)

| | | I sliced my finger open really good at the tip, enough to get blood all over the floor and my hand, with my knife once while exploring. This time I was smart enough not to bring my medical kit so my friend took off her tank top and I wraped it up in that. I still have the scar.

I got the chicken pox vaccine last year with my daughter at the same time. It must be a fairly new vaccine, I don't remember anyone ever being vaccinated for Chicken Pox prior to the doctor telling me about it.

It is new. Good deal too. I had the real thing when I was six, and had a attack of shingles at 20. Not fun, but not half as bad as someone who is elderly or on say chemo and gets shingles. A very nasty customer; it won't kill in this form, but the pain can be excruciating and can cause eye damage if near the eyes.
