Are you fucking serious Blackhawk??? I don't admire thieves, in fact I hate them. however, destroying the unsustainable machine of industry that is built overconsumption is fine with me. Rage against the machine. incidently...this happens a few times a year around vancouver as well.

Would you be saying this when you are sitting in the dark waiting for your power to come back because someone damaged a sub station to get copper because he was too lazy to work? How about the guys who have to risk their lives repairing the damage and depending on how much damage has been done, the risk is more?
Not only that but copper thieves don't care if a building is abandoned or not. God knows how many buildings that were undergoing restoration, renovation or just getting built that were wrecked (sometimes beyond repair) because of these assholes. It doesn't take long for a building to get trashed beyond repair when going after the copper. Just smash out the wall and rip away.
I have no sympathy for copper thieves. They deserve to get zapped!

This goes along with the idea of the stupid naturally falling out of the gene pool. There are more slow witted people who reproduce and die later than who are killed in bizarre accidents that are of their own making. There have been slow witted people for thousands of years, and the trait is not disappearing. If slow wit/stupidity is genetic (and that's a major assumption), than it's a balanced polymorphism.
