| | | Cub good to hear from you on this. Glad that you are feeling better. Take it easy man, and just be more careful. Accidents do happen, shit I broke my leg while exploring. Cheers and hope to see ya soon.
We must also go out and meet the enemy before he reaches our shores. We must defeat him before he attacks us, before our cities are laid to waste. William Lyon Mackenzie King, Prime Minister of Canada from 1921-1926, 1926-1930 and 1935-1948 |

| | | That's a shitty deal. I hold a silent celebration in my mind after every exploration, since I haven't gotten hurt in the years I've been doing this now. I'm very lucky, and I do not take it for granted. What we do is incredibly dangerous and you can never forget that. Of course at the same time, you can't let it own you. You have to find the perfect mix of control and recklessness, I think. I don't know whats with all these theft allegations. I think some people just enjoy making up things to put some drama in their lives. Apparently a guy nearly getting killed isn't dramatic enough. | | | Wow, those were some beautiful pics. Personally, I kinda gravitate towards the more gritty, industrial-looking stuff like this. And yeah... I hear what you're all saying about staying safe. Last week, out in Hamilton, I was on the second floor, and then came across a sorta "soft" spot, as I was walking along. It made my heart go ka-thunk, just a bit. So after that I made sure to try and walk where I presumed/felt there were probably major beam supports, underfoot. *shrugs*

| | | I drove past the rubble a couple weekends ago. I regret not seeing this place before it met its end. Great photos all around.

| | | I was there yesterday on my bike and Its not ALL gone.. There is one piece of architecture standing at the North-Eastern part of the site.. this was the way into the underground pit and whatever it might have hidden inside of it. This might explain the really old manholes here and there on the street.(but it might not)
I WAS going to go into it but there was (*excuses*excuses) as well as (*excuses*) so maybe some other time..

| | | A;ways before careful and never explore alone. Cub, consider yourself lucky. I fell from similar heights once and landed head first on the concrete. Nobody knew what happened to me as I laid there unconscious and finally came to and wandered outside. Luckily my wife found me and called 911. I didn't know what was happening, what had happened or what was going on. To this day I don't remember anything about the accident except for a few seconds here and there. Not even the actual fall. I could have never dialed 911, and was even telling the wife not to. Had my wife not been close by I could have wandered into further danger or had further medical complications. that goes without saying. but odds are that if you take a couple hundred people, and ask them to explore abandoned sites every weekend or two (which are old, rotten, and just about ready to fall over on thier own - not to mention "the dark holes"), then statistically speaking, there will be a certain percentage of people who will get into serious accidents. i'm always on the lookout and I try and make sure that it's not me, nor any of my party, - 'cuz, man, that's gotta suck. drove by that place many-a-time; never ocurred to me to go in there. (My mind not only wanders, sometimes it leaves completely, especially when i'm driving my truck around the city.) really nice set here for the memory books ================================= nice to hear you're OK, cub. got hit by a car myself (completely outa the blue) while doing a delivery at work. it's been a couple of years now, still on the meds (gettin' to really like the meds - lol), just now getting back out exploring again. hang in there, it'll come. maybe we can start a subsection in UER for explorers with disabilities - canes and wheelchairs only.
