Maglite is a company based in the city of Ontario, California. They create high-quality aluminum flashlights which many Urban Explorers prefer over other brands.

Maglites are available in sizes for single AAA batteries, double AAA, double AA, and a range from 2 to 6 D cells.

Each Maglite contains two bulbs: One in the front, and one spare bulb in the tailcap.

Not only are Maglite flashlights popular, they're widely customizable; NiteIze makes numerous accessories for AAA/AA Maglites, including positionable belt holders, a tactile switch, and more.

For C/D Maglite flashlights, there are several optional replacement bulbs available that increase the already respectable light output, at the cost of shortened battery life. The "Mag-Num Star" Xenon bulb from Mag is the brightest conventional bulb that will work in a C/D Maglite, but the HPR-52/HPR-53 Halogen bulbs will also fit and are significantly brighter (but drain the batteries toot sweet).

The anti-roll device and accessory lens holder (same piece), only available as part of the D-cell Maglite accessory kit (fits C-cell lights, too) is wonderful for, as the name implies, keeping the flashlight from rolling away from you. Highly recommended.

C/D Maglites also carry a unique serial number on the barrel next to the button switch.
