Don't call it a comeback, I've been here for years.

| | | Many urban explorers seek out abandoned properties to explore, as these locations some times offer beautiful scenes of urban decay and can sometimes be viewed as a sort of time capsule. These locations can often be dangerous, plagued by rotting floors, broken glass, rusty metal or asbestos. Precautions must be taken. A property can be deemed abandoned if it has been deserted or otherwise entirely foresaken by those who would put the location to legitimate use; this does not include squatters, junkies, or bums. Unfortunately, abandoned locations are prime targets for vandals or arsonists. There is a handful of hints one can look out for when searching for abandoned buildings:
- Boarded-up or broken windows.
- Lots of graffiti.
- If scouting at night, any building that seems empty and is totally dark.
- Open windows in the middle of a freezing winter.
- Overgrown lawn.
- Missing doors.
- Decaying paint.
- Etc...
On the flip side, some signs that the building you're investigating may not be abandoned:
- Light/electricity.
- Smoke coming from a chimney or smokestack.
- AC units dripping water (during summer).
- Car(s) parked in the driveway.
- Evil lawn gnomes.
- Etc...
