| | | Looks like general neglect to me, with a bit of demolition. Great pictures and video. I only went there once but we weren't able to get in. I'd kill to get in there in the future... beautiful. [last edit 7/29/2007 10:48 AM by Stewie - edited 1 times]

i don't think there's much destruction, unless most of it took place when they disassembled things for auction. most of the valuable contents of the regal constellation hotel were sold via auction. i heard they sold wood work, light fixtures, and the chandeliers. i've always wanted to explore this place... it's like a classic old toronto hotel that celebrities, etc. used to stay at. it was hot in it's hayday. supposedly years and years ago the hotel was sold to a group of chinese business men and was 'run to the ground' [basically] when the employees formed a union. before they purchased the building it was heavily renovated and no expense was spared e.g. marble work, granite work etc. it was an expensive project but the previous owner made large $$$ on the sale. the hotel has been sitting there ever since, and from what i can tell it looks like it's in poor shape. it is a concrete structure that is deteriorating and will eventually have to be demolished. there is no cost-effective way of attempting to rebuild the current structure. that hotel used to be 'the shit' back in the day. there was nothing like it in terms of banquet facilities, etc. very nice pictures... the demise of the regal constellation. i guess it's a fucking heatscore [now] so i have to stay away [for now]

| | | Great job magnoodles! Police have generally had swat training there, but most recently there has been a training session there called "task 25". My understanding is there are still remnants around from the training session. Look here: http://www.oafc.on...1032&itemtype=News

You know what? ...Do police actually do any kind of training in abandoned hotels or whatever? A couple of weeks ago--around noon, during the week--I drove by, and there was an OPP Suburban parked outside, along with another "unmarked" SUV... And there were a couple of guys walking around, wearing "tactical gear". *shrugs* I didn't see ANY signs of vandalism in there. You saw the picture of the room full of TVs, lol? They were all intact... Same with all the lamps, just sitting there in the hall. Didn't see ANY graffiti, or any random, malicious destruction in there anywhere. *shrugs* It's pretty huge and intricate in there. Well... intricate for a doofus like me, at least, lol. Especially in the basement; with the wine cellars and stuff (complete with intact bottles still on the shelves), and also in the "back", staff areas. I got kinda lost a couple of times.

| | | Okay, sorry, lol... Guess I should read everything before responding, lol. (Just checked out Air 33's link...) Imagine that, though: You decide to stop by the hotel, and it just so happens that the police coincidentally chose that exact time to do their counter-terrorism stuff, lol? (Unbeknownst to you, obviously...) Talk about pooping your pants!

| | | In the old tower at the Regal, most of the room doors have been blown off their hinges for breach training. Lots of holes between rooms as well. Bloweduprealgood.
