The Brick Works

Once again, I totally fail at photography. I ended up leaving late to get here, and forgot to charge my camera battery or bring my extra. So no nice pictures, just some snapshots this time. I didn't have nearly the amount of time on my battery to set up any good shots, nor light left in the day. So, here we go.

This is (probably) a well known brick factory in Jersey. There's really nothing left but ruins, except for some small underground tunnels that they used to heat the furnaces. It's a little dangerous, and a lot of people go there to drink and tag the place. There's a group of people that play paintball there as well, which we happened to meet while we were there. Scared the shit out of us when we heard voices coming from the entrance to a tunnel. Turns out they were pretty cool guys though. We chatted it up for a little bit, then they left us to our esplorins and we left them to their bunker making. As a paintball player, I can honestly say it must be badass to play there, even though it destroys the natural beauty of it.

Cross the rail road tracks, and into the woods...

I'm guessing it's the entrance.

One side of the brick works. When it was operational, it was about 3 times the size of what is left now.

This tunnel was blocked off, but there were a few underground entrances to some other ones.

If I had the time to set up this shot, it might have been a half decent portrait.

Some tunnel shots.

Again, would have been pretty good if I had time to set up my white balance, external lighting, etc...

This is in the pine barrens no? It gets more and more trashed all the time.... Nice piece of history here.

That it is. I found so many beer bottles and cans there it wasn't even funny. I would have cleaned some of it up, but the light was fading fast and I wanted to get what shots I could.

Meh, I've taken MUCH better if you saw any of my other threads. I love this place though, I've been back twice (albeit for a few minutes) since this trip. It's so cool.
