If you don't want to be Googled, don't put it on the internet. period.

Otherwise, start using robots.txt (http://www.robotstxt.org/) .... it's helped keep some of my stuff off the major search engines. But, as I said, if it's on the Internet, it's public. It's just harder to find.

If the police really cared that much about what we were doing, I think they would've contacted you by now. Or any of us for that matter.

It's happened before, and I'm sure it'll happen again.

* Also heard some disturbing things about the loss of ALL the jewelery (except the safe) at the jeweller's store after the event - this was the time where only police and fire had access to the site.

Two Charged In Devastating Barrie Fire
Monday February 18, 2008
The Canadian Press

Two Toronto residents are charged in connection with a massive fire that gutted a section of downtown Barrie, Ont., in early December.

The late-night blaze was preceded by a loud explosion in a restaurant housed in a historic downtown building that dated back to 1877.

There were no injuries, but more than 40 people had to be evacuated from several apartments above the Royal Thai Cuisine restaurant.

Barrie police say an investigation by the Ontario Fire Marshal's office concluded the explosion and fire were the result of arson.

A 62-year-old man, John Cartolano, is charged with arson endangering life, obstructing justice and fraud, and 40-year-old Laverne Williams, is charged with fraud and obstructing justice.

Both suspects remain in custody pending a bail hearing.

NEWS FLASH - 2/18/2008 - Two Toronto residents with financial interests in the Riviera restaurant face charges in connection to the massive Five Points inferno that destroyed a large section of downtown Barrie last December.

John (Giovanni) Cartolano, 62, is charged with arson endangering life and arson for fraudulent purposes.

Laverne Williams, a 40-year-old Toronto woman, is charged with fraud over $5,000.

I really hope they nail that Giovanni fvck-wad on this - I'm sure the 50 or so residents and the other business owners / employees will completely agree.

From the Star....

Emily Mathieu~Staff Reporter

Two charged in arson that destroyed Barrie businesses

Toronto pair, now in custody, are business partners in pizza store where massive fire started, police say

Two Toronto residents were arrested Sunday after police determined a massive fire that destroyed historical buildings in downtown Barrie was started deliberately.

According to police, traces of an accelerant were found to be the source of a fire that originated in the Riviera Pizza & Pasta House on 4 Dunlop St. W. in Barrie in early December.

"Both parties had an interest in the Riviera. ... They were business partners," said Det. Const. Brett Carleton with Barrie police.

A 62-year-old man and 40-year-old woman were taken into custody at the Barrie police station on Sunday. Both live separately in Toronto, Carleton said.

"They were there for interviews and during that time the arrest took place," Carleton said.

The fire gutted four businesses, several apartments and destroyed a landmark hotel before it was brought under control.

Several more businesses suffered heavy water and smoke damage.

At first residents had called in to report a fire and explosion to police. Carleton said there was not a deliberate explosion, but said the high and sudden volume of flame could have confused people.

No one was seriously injured, but several pets died and damages were in the millions.

"It's almost amazing that no one died," he said.

There was insurance on the Riviera and it was in the process of being collected, Carleton said.

Laverne Williams has been charged with fraud worth more than $5,000. John Cartolano is charged with arson endangering life and arson for fraudulent purposes.

Sure they do. One of the most exciting photo opz I ever had was a burnt out shrimp/seafood storage warehouse. The charred, rotten & decomposing critters made for some serious scentual ambiance.
