Fire damaged wreck on Queen

After meeting up with Tomms the other day he had invited me out for another outing in the downtown. As it turned out the construction site that had lured us into the downtown was a lot more active than we were expecting for the weekend and the two of us decided to call it off (maybe another night). Next in an attempt to salvage the rest of the day we scouted a few more smaller scale abandonments and attempted to get on the roof of a few buildings along Queen; with out much luck. That's when we noticed a burned out wreck of storefronts and apartments.

As it turns out squatters have made a home inside of the apartments. I wouldn't of minded so much if I didn't have to watch my footing for needles all over the place (though they did have the courtesy to cap them).

Drop something?

After reading our fair share of meaningless drug induced scribblings on the wall we decide to depart. We exited into the back of the property and headed for the wooden construction fence when Tomms pointed out that there was another vacant building on the property that we missed. As I walk toward him to get a look I slip on some ice and come crashing down into the mud, I shrug off the stinging sensations in my right hand and leg and follow Tomms into the derelict pizzeria.

In contrast to the apartments the pizzeria was in total darkness and the stinging in my hand was getting a lot worse. Well that'd be because I apparently shredded it as I came crashing into the mud on some exposed nails.

Suddenly I wasn't in the mood for anymore exploring.

Me and Tomms parted ways and I met up with ~Taco for some first aid, thanks again (it's been healing nicely). I'll have to start putting a med kit in my backpack again just in case more crap like this happens.

Here's a lockpick. It might be handy if you, the master of unlocking, take it with you.

Hope your hand is ok Boffo. Looks like an enjoyable time was had before that incident though.

There used to be a methadone clinic not too far from there. I guess it makes sense that junkies would conglomerate here.

Yeah the hand's doing okay. My index finger keeps snagging on things and hurts the most (you can't really see it but I got cut pretty deep there).

Oh that would be exciting, Standing next to a group of strung out junkies waiting to get treated. I suspect for an injury such as what you got, you could have gone to a real hospital.

Naw, then I would had to of waited in hospital reception for two hours just for a nurse to probably clean the wound and apply first aid. I don't care if it's free it's a waste of my time. Taco did that as soon as I walked in the house and I got to spend the next few hours rocking out to guitar hero with some friends.

Whenever I look at the photo I'm just happy that I didn't get cut just 2 inches lower... then I would have been at the hospital.

I've been checking the place out over the past few days. Man. What a dump. Still interesting, given the location; and you gotta' love the hay-bobcat-pit...

the staircase, essentially a 'ramp' given the garbage and junkie-debris, where if you slip and fall, you slide out a windowless-window and fall 2 stories onto Queen West hipsters:

"what's for dinner"

pretty, still.
