I remember some friends & I found a bus like that way out in the middle of the bush in southern Ontario. It had some misc. personal stuff, a wood stove & bed in it & everything. Seemed like it was recently abandoned. It was about an hours hike from the nearest road, and off of any trails.

Read "Into The Wild" the following summer at a friend's cottage. Got tingles up my spine because it reminded me so much of that bus.

I loved reading Into The Wild and recently watched the film as well, which is why I feel silly that I didn't even think of it when I was taking these pictures. It might have been because this bus was beside a farmhouse with lots of tractors, so I got a farm vibe.. but thanks for liking my pictures!
And yes, now, of course I think its all very Into the Wild, in retrospect.

I know of a couple of buses done up like hunting camps. next time I'm in the area I'll snap some shots. one's on arcol road near ompah, ont. the other is deep down the fillman trail near newfoundout.

I also know of a school bus that has been converted into a full time residence. I'm sure the guy is still living there too

If the bus was being stored on someone elses property - you have no right to be there.

If you want to go trespass on some corporate land, or city property, or abandoned property -- fine. If that land belongs to someone, and they live there. Stay out.

I dunno if your talking to me but, thanks for your moral opinions, grinthock. maybe if you actually checked out the way point location before coming to the assumption that I was trespassing on inhabited (or uninhabited land, for that matter), you'd see the location is on a public road.

Way to contradict yourself.

All land belongs to someone. What difference does it make if it's owned by an individual, a city, or a corporation?.. Trespassing is trespassing. It's not as if they're there to vandalize and destroy the property.. they're there to capture the essence of a scenic environment.. and they did that really well.

Don't bring your pseudo-ethic opinions onto a site that is based around trespassing. It's like pissing into the wind.

Edit: Going back on topic, it really does bring the whole "Into The Wild" feel into play. Great book, beautiful movie.. even if you don't agree with the whole placing Chris as a hero.. because he wasn't. Rather, he was someone that wanted something, and simply proved that you could go out and get it.

Sorry to sidetrack and beat a dead horse, but in addition to what Bryan said, I also believe what he mentioned but also go as far as to hold that I don't really avoid an abandoned spot of any kind if a homeless someone happens to have adopted it as their home. We both have as much right (or as little right, more accurately) to be on the property. I only avoid "lived-in" abandoned places if the one living there happens to be potentially of a violent nature.

i'm not sure who's getting reemed out here, but to clarify, no one lives in this bus and i'm sure its completely abandoned.
and yes, i agree, all property does belong to someone. exploring anything is accepting that you are trespassing - although there are, of course, levels of danger of trespassing. in this case, the bus was extremely low-risk.
