| | | Bracketing is the process of taking multiple photographs of the same scene with different exposure values or focus. This is very useful when you are unsure of how your film, auto-focus sensors, or light meter are reacting to a particular scene. Exposure bracketing is very easy to do on a camera that allows for full manual control, and is also possible on an automatic camera which allows you to manually push the exposure by a stop or EV in either direction. Focus bracketing is easily performed on a manual focus camera by slightly adjusting the focus one way or the other, or auto-focus camera with an automatic focus bracketing mode. First, take a picture at the recommended exposure settings. Then, adjust either the lens aperture (f-stop) up from that point by one step, and down from that point by one step. When you get your film developed or download your digital photographs, you will have three possible versions, out of which you can choose the best. Some automatic film and digital cameras may offer automatic exposure and focus bracketing, requiring the shutter release to be pressed only once.
Mmmm... the sweet smell of damp concrete. <3 |
