and I'm sorry if this is in the wrong forum, but is there anyone who would be willing to take me along? or, perchance, tell me some interesting places, that one could go alone?

First off, Welcome! Probably your best bet is to come to one of the organized meets and discuss your location there in person.
Or if you using the "By Location" search you can look for explorers within the area that your 'location' is in and contact them privately.
If you happen to be in my area, I'd be more than happy to help out/explore.
