Chemical formula: H2S

Hydrogen sulfide is an extremely toxic gas, sometimes found in sewers, manure pits, mines, volcanic areas, and refinery operations. A few breaths of it can kill you.

At low concentrations, it has a rotten egg smell. Olfactory fatigue occurs, and the smell goes away, even though the gas is still present.

It reacts in air to form sulfur dioxide (SO2) and sulfuric acid (H2SO4).

It is a broad-spectrum poison, affecting many systems in the body.
