| | | The bulb will last 2500 hours, not the batteries. This probably has a pretty short battery life (I'd guess around an hour) and it most likely uses the Lithium 123A batteries, as those have a shelf life of 10 years. So yeah, that seems a reasonable price for that, but it's not different than any other "tactical" type flashlight. Check out the Brinkmann Legend LX, very similar and it's only 20 bucks at Walmart. Very cheap, very bright, very compact. Battery life is about an hour though, and it's not waterproof (it should be ok in the rain though). The lithium batteries that these type of lights take can be VERY expensive in retail stores, but if you go to http://www.surefire.com you can buy a 12 pack for $15 bux. Also, I'm moving this thread to the usefull info board. [last edit 2/5/2004 8:44 PM by Shane - edited 1 times]

| | | There are 2 million candlepower flashlights, too. I've seen them for 20 bucks! EDIT: The one that I saw wasn't a handheld flashlight, it was one of those spotlights. [last edit 2/5/2004 8:50 PM by Mancubus - edited 1 times]

| | | I got my 2MCP hand held spot at harbor freight for 9 bucks - expoxied it to a hard hat and connected the 12V car adapter to a motrocycle battery. 6+ hours - has never left me in the dark - but it draws cops like moths.

| | | Someone clarify, does this mean that this light is as bright as the Garrity 1 million? And an HOUR of usage? Thats a TON of time compared to Garrity's 20-30 minutes. Are these super batteries or something? Someone please explain! UEXplorer

| | | I'm not sure what else to say but, WOW! That thing must weigh quite a bit on a hardhat even without the battery. I think I'll stick to my 4 LED headlamp and keep the larger lights in my hand. Very nice mounting job though. Zern

| | | How many hours can you get out the the motorcycle battery between recharges? Thats a pretty good idea, of course the battery would get heavy after awhile, but the good thing is that they are cheap, and rechargable.

| | | Question one: is the candlepower count something that can be fudged for marketing purposes, thus the light is as bright as a standard maglight for example? I'm unsure of the candlepower of my mag, but I know it's bright enough. A standard consumer might be wowed by 1 million candlepower, but that may be "standard". And what's the standard for measuring candlepower? Depending on the method used to test that parameter, a shit light could beat a mag or otherwise "superior" light. Question two for Commander C.: Your motorycycle battery setup is pretty nice, but do you use one of the "sealed" batteries, such as a cyclepro (which can be mounted in any position) thus negating the acid leakage problem? While technically sealed, car and motorcyle batteries can and will leak if carried upside down (there is a vent tube) . While w'ere talking lights, how long has anyone gotten out of a lantern style light. I know they're bright as hell, and have a convenient handle, but is that negated by lack of battery life? Dukes

I am not sure, but I think CP is measured very close to the bulb. Therefore, if you have a shitty reflecter, it is not really taken into account for CP, the flashlight is still giving off the same amount of light, but it might bounce better with a better reflector = Bigger CP is better, and so are good reflecters and lenses.

| | | Here's mine. http://www.outdoorsite.com/site/go.cfm/owner/90344514-CC38-4DAD-B69F14D86EA83CC3 3 MILLION CP It's actually my dad's, we use it to dock boats at night. Never taken it UEing. If you point it at a flammable liquid, say for example a small patch of gasoline on dribbled onto a garage floor, it will actually get hot enough to start the gas on fire (after a minute or so). Now THAT's candlepower. [last edit 2/6/2004 6:18 AM by Heartless - edited 1 times]

| | | Don't go by Candlepower. All the crappy lights use that. Candlepower is defined as the number of candles that would give off the same amount of light. REALY lights measure light output in Foot-Candles. This refers to how much light is present on the object you are lighting up. You can have all the candlepower you want, but if it's fanned out over a huge area, you might be better off with a mag-lite. -Ex [last edit 2/6/2004 6:48 AM by NoSuchPerson - edited 2 times]

Oh, it's still brighter than all hell, I assure you...no MagLite can match the blinding power of this baby. It'd be a total waste to take it on a UE trip though, unless you wanted to let the entire world and maybe some people hanging out up in space know where you are.

| | | I have a Brinkman that uses the 123a batteries and is hella bright, it's good I guess for lighting up areas for a short period of time. I might use it to "paint with light" in long exposures or use it for some Super-8 footage, it's bright enough to expose super-8 film and it difuses nice as well. I also have a Target Clearence spotlight/lantern but I need to do something to the lantern feature, it isn't working, it worked for a day and then I think the waire got crinked, this thin has an adjustable head and I got it for under 20 bucks. It's 1 million cp. Target has got some nice Eddie Bauer lights on sale now, at least the one in downtown Minneapolis does. Asylunt
