| | Linfield Park Industrial Site AND Poe House < on 9/16/2008 11:10 PM >
| | | Hey all, these are a few weeks old. On this particular day we hit up 4 locations, only two were done in daylight enough to photograph them. First was the poe house, were Edgar Allen Poe apparently wrote something...Dont know If thats true though.
Going down the path towards the property which consisted of the house, garage, and a huge barn.
Front of the building
Garage
Back of the house, entry point
Kitchen
Doorway
This is how dark most of the house was, so I couldnt take any really good pictures, as I didnt have my tripod.
The barn
First floor of the barn
I dont know which of these two I really like more, this was the second floor. The whole thing was in very good condition.
One more of the back of the house. Then we left and headed over to Linfield. Linfield Industrial Park: The light was dimming, so some pictures didn't turn out, and then I couldn't take them at all as the light was too low.
The gates, which are somewhat back in the entrance drive way, next to a guard shack. This picture came out like shit. Excuse it.
First building on the right when you enter.
The first sights of the monstrous buildings.
Buildings This next one is by far the best picture of the night, and surprisingly good considering I didn't have my tripod.
The water tower. High and Mighty.
Loading dock, this is down the main road a bit more.
Warehouse tower. To give you an idea of how big these are. Those windows are of the stairwell.
Two more. Theres a bunch of these buildings, I haven't been around them all yet, I plan to though, I will be in them as well.
The intersection down there.
Same picture, different level, I stood up to take this.
And the last shot before the dark, Some containers for some liquid. At this point it was getting too dark and we didn't get to go into any of the buildings, and we began to hear other people about, and everyone wanted to go, so we split and headed over to Frick's Lock. We got to Fricks Lock, and it was way to dark, plus it seemed security was lurking about within, so we left and went down the road to an old swim club, where the club house still stands. The pools (2 of them) are (1) Filled in, turned into a makeshift skate park and (2) completely overgrown, it was like a field. I didn't take pictures because it was night time, but next time I go I will. And that was it for that day. [last edit 9/17/2008 10:58 AM by KALASH69 - edited 4 times]

| | | I'm surprised to hear there was too much security at Frick's Lock. We went in from the other end, to be safe, and never encountered anyone. Broad daylight.

Same here! I can't wait to go back though, Im going to bring my tripod to get much better shots. As for my friends, maybe you've seen them at one of those locations before? They go often. @PhotoSeeker: The time before we went, my friends that I explore with went and there were cops behind that warehouse thats at the entrance. Apparently since someone burned down one of the houses the security keeps getting tighter. I wouldnt know I've only been there once. [last edit 9/17/2008 1:24 AM by KALASH69 - edited 2 times]

| | | It doesn't look like you can as the fence is all chained up and theres those 55 gallon drums blocking the entrance., but my friends were recently there and someone had a jalopy inside driving around. [last edit 9/19/2008 5:50 AM by KALASH69 - edited 1 times]

| | | Am having fun armchair UE'ing your city.... a steamy nuke plant, overgrown VA hospital... The poe house is a great sales tool for that metal roofing, got the same stuff on my house, good to know it can take the weather. [last edit 9/20/2008 10:56 AM by mesomewierdo - edited 1 times]

| | | Just a nice bit of info, if you are planning/wanting to go to Frick's Lock, you better do it soon... All of the structures on the property are being taken out... A very sad day for me, because this is one of my favorite places to go!! Also, when exploring Linfield, keep an eye out for the man that lives just across the street from the entrance. He is a wonderful person to dial the police, and has done so to myself before. He often walks his dog through the park looking for people(how I met him)... Just 2 little bits of info you all may be interested in!! -S4H
The Durango '95 purred away a real horrowshow - a nice, warm vibraty feeling all through your guttiwuts. And soon it was trees and dark, my brothers, with real country dark. |

| | | Someone told me that the "Poe" house is actually where Fox and the Hound was written. Don't know if it's true, I couldn't find anything about where it was written with a quick google search, but just throwing it out there haha.

| | | out of all the time I've been to Fricks Lock there has never been security except for the cameras by the river. and Linfield you would need to bring in flood light to get a good shot inside the factory. the shots of the house were very nice. i love it when they are really overgrown
The camera relieves us of the burden of memory. It surveys us like God, and it surveys for us. Yet no other god has been so cynical, for the camera records in order to forget |
