Ripstop isn't stab-proof. All it is is re-inforced nylon/cotton/whatever to stop rips from spreading very far. It does this by having a heavyduty cross hatch pattern woven into the fabric that stops it from ripping further. It isn't just blackhawk that make ripstop products, loads of things are made out of ripstop material such as BDUs, sails and camping equipment.

Yeah, pretty much any 'stab-proof' material would need to have plates like HexArmor, or somehow catch the barbs. Cutproof things are usually just a kevlar blend, so they're cheaper.

| | | | I really dont think you will need stab proof clothing but cut proof is a good idea. a stap proof shirt would be more like a bullet proof vest than an actual shirt or jacket.

Might not be too fun to walk 5 miles in just in case you meet a hobo. In that situation, I would just yell "Here, catch!" and throw charged capacitors at him...

I'm gonna have to add this to my advice on the Tunnel Hacking/Draining Tips thread. I believe in advice that, in itself, weeds out those who deserve help instead of pity. I think my dad started me down that path...

It isn't really a cut/slash proof material either as such. It will cut just like any other common clothing material, the only difference is that the heavy duty crosshatch weave stops the rip from spreading and adds strength to the material, but is certainly not a slashproof material as the guy seemed to suggest.

I've gone over barbwire fences and taken a digger into gravel on a mountain bike wearing my Reebok Playdry shirt and only pulled a couple muscles with no scratches at all.. (I buy the cheaper reebok shirts when they're 1/2 price...which makes them 1/4 price UnderArmor)
