Look! A light in the trees!
| | | What's that under her skirt? < on 12/19/2008 9:07 PM >
| | | I came upon another abandoned farmhouse yesterday, on a sideroad in the Shelburne area. Slogged through knee-deep snow to check it out. From the road, it looked to be in pretty good shape. A very fancy wood shingle exterior featured a couple of rows of decoratively-shaped shingles about 2/3 of the way up the exterior. I got a bit of a surprise when I got in close enough to see a spot where the shingles had fallen off (a look under her skirt, so to speak)... the original home underneath was a loggie! It looked like it had been expanded upwards with a second floor and outwards with a kitchen and bathroom added to the back. Inside was a bit of a mess with a lot of debris mounded up on the floor. In the old log part of the home, the stone wall of the basement had collapsed on the side shared with the kitchen extension, causing that wall to drop, the floor to fall into the old basement and a second-floor dormer to fall in. I took some liberty with photoshop to make the graffiti in one photo Pooh-friendly. There was also the foundation of a barn next to the house.

| | | Cute little place. I particularly like the look of the first pic. It took me a few seconds to figure out your graffiti photoshopping. Duh.

| | | Very nice little house, there...nice find. I've got my eye on a house near here I want to check out, but have been hesitant about the slogging through knee deep snow bit (especially since I'm only 5'...might be chest high). I'm hoping to get a snow machine ride there before it falls down.
