Eramosa Karst, Hamilton Ontario

I recently visited the Eramosa Karst(caves) in Hamilton Ontario and did some huskysploration there.

The Nexus Cave, the largest in the karst is 10km long. Sadly cold conditions of late December and frigid water made exploration very difficult.

Below are a few photos with the others located Here http://viewmorepic...12&albumId=2272631

wow, beautiful pictures I feel quite ignorant now, not having been aware that this was in our city!! Thanks for sharing!

when you are here, you wish you were there. but once you're there, it soon becomes a here, and you again wish to be there instead of here...

we will never be completely satisfied.

Wow! I had no idea this place existed. Cool pics.

BTW, Nexus Cave isn't 10km long. From wiki:

"Five dissolutional caves, large enough for human entry, have been identified within the area.[2] Nexus Cave is the largest. Measuring 335 metres in length, it is the 10th longest cave in Ontario."

I got my info from the 2003 MNR Report, I probably typed it incorrect.

Waaaay back I was into caving and I was sure I'd know about something 10km long in S Ontario! It's still very cool and I'll have to check it out.

Wow...not that I'm terribly familiar with the area, but I didn't know anything like this existed, well, anywhere in Ontario. Very cool. Luka is a beautiful pooch, by the way.

Oh, and that poop was SUPER gross.

Incredibly cold would be an understatement. I was out there today and just wow... Freezing.
I managed to take a few pictures just inside the cave a bit, the actual conservation area is awesome as well.

Thanks! I had no idea (though now that I looked through the 2nd link, I think I might have heard of the Bonnechere Caves before and just forgotten). Y'know, when I'm free to travel a more, I've got a loooooooooooooooooooooooooong list to start on.
