I have a Nikon D60. I'm happy with it but in order to autofocus it requires that the lens has an autofocus motor. Not a big problem but it does add to the cost of the lenses. In hindsight I might have gotten the D80.

Thanks! I don't know how important autofocus would be for me, as I've been using a Canon F-1 SLR forever now (hello 1980), but since you mention it, it may be a consideration for the future. It seems like for the under $1000 budget it's pick and choose what you can go without between all the cameras.

What camera do you use? (I'm currently trying to decide on a DSLR and I might as well get as many opinions as I can) The one I've got the most recommendations for in my price range is the Nikon D60 which at Henry's and Future Shop comes with an 18-55 and a 55-200mm. For the camera I use now I only have a 28mm, 50mm and 100mm. I bet once I get my hands on a digital camera I'll be taking tons of photos simply because of how neat it looks (as I mentioned, it's a pain to carry a huge bag with an old, heavy SLR plus lenses plus my old digital P+S). Um, right. That got slightly rambling and off topic. In short: What camera do you use/recommend?

get some adapters to use your older lenses (unless they are nikon in which case they will work) and you can enjoy the look of the older film lenses on your digi. My pentax primes were the only things that made me want to use my 10d.

The good thing about those cameras is they are bulletproof! Anyhow FD mount lenses really can't mount on anything with an adapter because they can't focus to infinity, so I'd recommend Nikon just because their lower end lenses far surpass canon, AND you can use old Nikon lenses with mount as well. Thanks for the tips! My lenses are Canon lenses. I plan on still using the F-1 occasionally after I get the DSLR, and once I have access to a darkroom again. It's just too expensive to be spending $20 for a roll of film plus prints, not to mention the atrocious quality of the prints I've noticed lately. rob666 - sorry I hijacked your thread! Back to the original topic now...

I'd geta scanner and just take the prints in for developing. the price varies from shoppers $3 to $8 for a prolab. I only shoot medium format film now.

Thanks. I really like the Sigma. I think it was seeing terapr0's pics that made me finally get it (not that I'm able to get the same results as him).

Yup. I believe it was opened January of this year. We watched it being built. Picture taken just last month of corner with Tim's in the foreground.

indeed. I can think of few things as tepid and unappealing as vinyl siding. and awesome set rob....that house looks like it would've been a great place to live at some point. If places like this didnt make for incredible photos and interesting places to explore, I'd say it was a damn shame for it to just sit there like that.0
