| | | i am new around here, have a good friend that use to be into this and i'm getting him re-interested. he has told me stories about whitby psyc, we drove by and notice there are 2 buildings left. but first we went over to knob hill farms in Oshawa, i have driven by for the last few weeks to see if it's abandon or not. the parking lot makes it look that way, and borded up. so today we go and there are 4 cars there and the gates open. so we walked in looking for a way into the building. they have 4 new camera's, and gates, but it;s locked up tight. on our walk back 2 of the cars drove by and ignored us, and there was a guy at his truck we stopped and asked him about it, he said there putting it up for sale. asked if we could go in for a look he said no. so we left. just wondering if anyone has info on this or has been in it, i searched the site and come up with nothing. looks like people have tried to break in, but we don;t want to cause damage. the place still has hydro and one gas meter is still active. have outside pic's, insides gutted just got a quick peek. front entrance, its 226,000 square foot building.
back loading docks
side of the building, offices i think
a very cool item, i did some research and this location use to be a iron foundry since 1898 and thats a drop forging press, turned into knob hill in 1982 and closed in 2000. [last edit 6/2/2009 10:56 PM by disallowed - edited 3 times]

| | | welcome to uer! closed in 2000? really? i know for some time it was a type of warehouse with aisles and aisles of STUFF. like books and clothes and i think they had food too. i miss this place! my dad and i use to go all the time and buy junky stuff cause thats what we like to do. 2000 would make me 8, and i pretty sure it was after then that it was the warehouse type place. interesting, hmmmmm....
Sorry, what was that you were saying about forever alone? |

| | | thank-you. well it became a discount/liquidation outlet and a flea market for a brief period of time before finally closing its doors and sealing off the property a Google earth search shows the gates are only a few years old cause there not on the map pictures. i would really like to get into this place, was thinking roof access, unsure at the moment if possible [last edit 6/2/2009 11:37 PM by disallowed - edited 1 times]

| | | Checked this place out a couple months ago after reading an article about how the chain of grocery stores went out of business. I walked the perimeter with my friend and we couldn't find any easy way to get in. There was also security at the time he did a short walk around the building and then went back to sitting in his chair out front.

| | | Yes, welcome disallowed! You're on the right track. Keep an eye on the place and see what happens. A lot of UE is the "boring" scout work. But I think that's half the fun - researching and biding your time. Then when it is time, you're ready to go and hopefully you get some good photos before the place gets demolished...

| | | We've also had our eye on the place. I'm pretty sure I know the area you mean. Where it looks like some people already tried to get in. I'm sure someone could fit, but I have the feeling there are alarms. Besides the roof, there is another possible poe we've considered, definately a sketchy way though.
