The Randall Farm

This is an abandoned house on highway 7 with a large barn and some sort of other out-building on the grounds. We were sort of busted by a neighbour while we were exploring but he was a very nice older fellow with a (scottish?) accent who apparently sort of keeps an eye on the property for the owner. We explained we weren't there to do the dope or anything and he was pretty cool. According to him the place is known as "The Randall Farm" and has been uninhabited for only about 2 years!! Its amazing how a place can deteriorate without occupants, although I suspect the people who last inhabited it were not the stable types anyway. The original tenants vacated in 2002 and it was a rental from then on. It was apparently painted by someone who was either insane or colour-blind or a mix of the two and there are literal dunes made of beer caps as well as art and wall coverings made of beer caps. Of course there is the requisite scrapper damage and bizarre scrawlings everywhere. I thought the closet on the first floor with al the ghosts drawn in it was pretty humourous as was the fact that the attic level is accessible only from the 2nd floor bathroom...

Looks like an interesting location! Only been abandoned for two years? Just the outside looks like it's been longer than that!

Good pictures...gives a good look at what it was like.

The architecture reminds me of an Italian Villa.

And when you finally disappear, We'll just say you were never here.

Wow, that place is wide open eh?! Are the walls that same concrete material inside the house? That stuff releases some sort of cancer causing chemical and makes the paint bubble, I'd abandon it too if that were the case. But it's got a fair piece of property doesn't it? (love the choice of decor)

No, the walls inside seemed to have been standard drywall, but brightly decorated. I loved it too, actually. The first room we entered, was through the side door below the outside stairs, and had Micky Mouse and Dumbo wallpaper. I thought it could have been a child's room, but with having its own door going directly outside, I had hoped not. Also on that wallpaper, it looked as though someone had been counting, with pencil, in the 4 lines then stroked out way... (I don't know how else to describe it, hopefully you catch my drift). Not sure what they were counting though.

In the next room, which was bright pink, someone had written a rhyme (or a rap?) on the wall which started with "My name is Jeremie, how do you do? I lived in this house 'til 2002." Rusty Meathook read the whole thing, but I couldn't capture it too well on the camera.

The kitchen was bright pink and bright yellow, with it's cupboards and counters strewn around everywhere. That led to a sort of garage, where many people seemed to have had their hands on chalk, and wrote all over the wooden beams. I took a picture of the bold and colourful "Very Scary Jerry" drawn on the ceiling.

Basically the place looked like the cosmetics section at my pharmacy exploded. Lime green stairwell. Lime green and light purple bathroom (the smallest bathroom I have ever seem for a house so big), where the stairs led to the attic... why would the stairs to the attic be accessed through the bathroom? Bright blue bedroom (with a pretty nice piece of graffiti artwork), bright pink bedroom.

And no matter what room you were in, there were THOUSANDS of beer caps! That was the most puzzling part... It was as if people ONLY went there to drink, and often, and had to leave their caps behind. The place was positively littered with them! I don't think I have ever seen that many beer caps in my life, let alone in one place.

Sometimes I pee when I laugh.

I know exactly what you mean when you say 4 lines stroked out, and it sounds depressing. Maybe they were manic depressive. I've heard that people with a heavy case of it, tend to paint their walls extreme, vivid colours.

I've gotta admit though, we use to go over to my friends house to drink and we always left our beer caps for him. He was trying to glue them to a table top and then he was going to put some sort of finish on it.

Thanks for writing all the details about the place. It sounds cool. I'd love to hear the whole rhyme, if you get the chance.
