Peepabun and Metz, Ontario

Hi all. This is KarmaKitten, the other (and prettier) half of Rusty Meathook. A few months back we had our first tastes of urban exploring while on a trek to find Peepabun, Ontario. We took a lot of dirt roads and found all sorts of abandonments. Since there wasn't necessarily enough pictures, or interest, to dedicate and entire thread to each specific place, I decided to put them all nicely together in one thread for your viewing enjoyment.

The Bridge

On our way there, we came to an intersection, with the road ahead of us labeled "DO NOT ENTER". So we did. And we found this little bridge, barely wide enough to have once fit cars, and looking like it could collapse anytime.

The House

This little house was standing all out in the open. Lots of random furniture left inside, but not much else. We were perplexed as to why it had been abandoned, because it seemed like such a cute little place at one time. At the very back of the building, it looked like there was a tiny bit of smoke damage above a very small attic window, but no other signs of fire anywhere.

The (Former) House of Peepabun's Only Intersection

When we arrived in Peepabun, we first passed this place and down the road came upon a fork, at which both roads had large mechanical gates. (And a man smoking outside his utility truck who nodded at us). We have no idea what was beyond those gates, as we could go no further, but it had a very "Area 51" vibe about it. We turned around and checked out this pile of rubble instead. The barn still seemed to be in use, being filled with bales of hay.

The "Hills Have Eyes" Trailer

After stopping in Arthur for a bite to eat (yummy pizza burgers), we headed home. We had actually passed this trailer on the way out, as it is just down the street from The House. It is actually in front of giant fields just at the edge of the road, a very unlikely place for a trailer of any sort. It was listing to the front, so it made for a very bizarre perception once inside. Despite being very well lit, it was extremely creepy. Something just didn't feel right about it. But to this day is still my favourite exploration.

The Equipment Across the Street

The trucks were just a short skip over from the trailer, but the rubble house and other farm equipment was across the street. At this point we began to wonder if some sort of tornado had once gone through this area, since there seemed to be an epidemic of collapsed houses.

The Metz Town Hall?

Finally, we stumbled on this small building in Metz. As you can see, it had power hooked up at one point. We were perplexed by this one since all the windows had been either boarded or bricked up except the ones on the left side of the building. They had sheets of plexi-glass on them and blinds hanging inside. The door was securely locked, but there was one window open in the basement, with a hose running out of it. We entertained the idea of crawling in, but besides the nosy neighbours and broad daylight, we assumed the hose had a purpose due to possible flooding. We still speculated that the building is in use, since the lock on the door, the windows with blinds, and the power hook ups all looked new.

So thats it. Thank you for viewing my incredibly long thread. I hope you enjoyed looking at the pictures as much as I enjoyed taking them.

That day was definitely pretty busy. Our only intention was to find the Peepabun sign (because its such a silly name) but ended up finding much more than that.

And thanks!
