Saturday Night Scout

Well, I attended a party Saturday night, it got quite boring for me so I went and did some exploring. Stoney Creek has a pretty elaborate industrial area, many fancy buildings with cool roofs and various things to climb. Most of it is completely dead on Saturday nights, around 12am. Having a bike was almost essential because if I had been caught, a bike is so much faster than security guards/workers.

Anyways, one place seemed more dead than the rest. I wont give out the name, but lets say getting into the back of the facility was really quite easy. I was biking on the side thinking to myself "Oh, this is pretty neat" stacked skids beside interesting looking pipes and barrels. I eventually got to the back and was given a fantastic surprise, a field. A field of coiled sheet metal. I had never been in such a place up close, but it was more than fantastic. Rows upon rows of these large chunks of metal, fun to jump across too!

Excuse the poor quality of the photos. I had left my tripod at the party, riding with one hand while infiltrating isn't a good idea. High ISO hand held, but it'll have to do for now. I plan on going back and getting some nice shots.

Anyone ever been anywhere like this?

did you get inside?

They say "you can't judge a book by its cover!" I say "YES you can, if the cover has a girl on it with a cock in her mouth, its PORN!" if she's 18 and the cock is black, its GREAT porn!

Reminds me of the back of Dofasco, a bit East of the slag pits.

No I didn't, to be honest I was still fairly stoned and a rather paranoid. There was a real easy way in though. A conveyor belt that runs to the outside has a big enough opening with some flaps to slide through. Though, I'm not quite sure on what the security measures placed there are.

Near the place is a massive mountain of dirt. This thing is big.. Anyone want to join in?

Those would be coils, look to be old too. I've cut many of them and moved them with equipment.

Are they under a lot of pressure? And how are these coils sealed and moved around? They look heavy!

Story time please?

Dude FYI, you probably should call something like this a "scout", scouting something out is when you are checking out or just looking at and around a property, to see whats happening, to see who's around and what you might need at a later date. Once you get inside of the location you have "infiltrated" it. i don't really care what you call it, but some members on here take things way too seriously and will ream you a new asshole for using the wrong terminology. (once i "back-lit" someone in a photograph with a light between their back and my camera...)

this location sounds pretty active, you should probably be VERY careful while you're "scouting" around there!

My apologies on the mixed terms. Thanks for fixing that up!

The place is quite active during the day and overnight on weekends. I drive past there very often, my first "scouting" gave me a good representation of what is there and what I should be weary of. There does not seem to be any active security that night, no cars, nothing. I don't imagine that they will worry too much considering the effort needed to go through with stealing a large coil... though I'd get a stadium full of people to roll one out for shits and giggles.

Fork lifts move them, like in your picture. They have inch and a half or inch and a quarter banding around them to hold them together. Since the ones I was getting were scrap, I just used a loader to push them onto my torch. My guess is thats one of Dofasco's holding yards seeing as my mill is down currently.
