| | | Studying at McMaster? Hamilton's location selection has been dwindling as of late, but as Brind said the Toronto meets are a great way to introduce yourself and visit some common locations. Transportation between Hamilton and Toronto is easy, especially if you're at McMaster.

| | | I've been thinking about some kind of meet in Hamilton like there used to be years ago but in all honesty there is NOTHING to see here any more. I'm not exaggerating either... unless you enjoy draining. In which case there are many things to see. That's not my thing however. Best bet is to just continue down the road to Toronto. I have to disagree with this. With respect to active locations, there are plenty - skyway bridge, ships, industrial sites, and 2 decent rooftops. As for abandonments, ELKO and Consumers Glass are still favorites of mine, as well as Ball Packaging. In terms of drains, there are a few around here that are definitely awesome but most are just average. [last edit 1/29/2010 3:49 AM by mello - edited 1 times]
when you are here, you wish you were there. but once you're there, it soon becomes a here, and you again wish to be there instead of here... we will never be completely satisfied. |

I don't really think that any of those places would be for the average, leisurely explorer. Certainly not a group of people coming from a meet. Hamilton's "specialty" of years ago was low-risk yet interesting locations. Lister Block, Thistle Club, Stelco Wellington, Lyric Theatre, HMP, etc. All very easy to get into buildings with a very low risk, yet still interesting enough to bother with. None of these exist any more, which are the types of locations that appeal to the broadest audience. [last edit 1/29/2010 7:36 AM by Stewie - edited 1 times]

Well in that case, places like the Royal Connaught are always wide open so you can just walk right in. I was going to mention Firestone, but since another fence has gone up, this may be too much for the average, leisurely, explorer.

| | | I was going to type something else but realized this was a public thread. Instead I will express my anger that the City of Hamilton has foiled us once again and Firestone is now an impenetrable fortress of epic abandonment. Yep...

| | | Sorry, took awhile to respond. Yeah I'm studying on exchange at McMaster (History and Geography). I'm from Maidstone in the county of Kent, which is just south-east of London but I go to university in Leeds which is up north in West Yorkshire. I'm here until around May. As for in Hamilton itself the only exploring I've done so far is in the McMaster General Hospital. But I don't know of much on offer. I've not got a lot of experience so I don't scoff at low risk things. I'll try to see if I can make the meeting in Toronto.

A few new fences, many new boards and 7 day per week security. I can't speak for everyone, but that's too much bullshit to deal with for a place that everyone and their dog has seen at least 5 times.

I thought this thread was for the new people, since the person who actually started it is new and hasn't seen it 5 times. Maybe this person likes a bit more high risk locations - they didn't mention any sort of preference so I was just throwing different ideas out there for them.

I've seen a Port Authority truck parked nearby... with no one in it. It was my first location in Hamilton and I absolutely loved it, found it worth all the "bullshit".
