Where can you purchase mag lights? I wana get anything from a 3D cell to even maybe a 5D or 6D cell. So far all I see is one or two on eBay, but what retail stores carry them?

Sounds as if you might be looking for a club, if so I can't help you but if you just want a bright light try and find something w/ a 5 watt cree led- most expensive being the Surefire variety but there are reliable options much cheaper, Hyperbeam for one. 3 watts is perfectly adequate and will be cheaper.

Home Depot has the best Prices. Without going into detail, I've checked around and that's the place. I got one of the new(well maybe not new but you know) LED 3D models and it came with a pocket sized light as well, all for something like 27 dollars.

Home depot, wal mart, lowe's, etc. If you want a flashlight and not a weapon, there are many better options.

Yep.

No, self-defense with a mag lite is familiar to police officers. However, make sure it's on when you hit someone. Basically, if it was used as a light, then "Officer, he came at me with a knife and I did what I could" works better than "I carry this metal tube for bashing skulls in." As with any self-defense technique, the use of a blunt instrument will probably be considered 'excessive force' if you had less bloody way out. Think fast; you'll have 2 seconds to decide and (if it gets there) the court will have 2 months to criticize. Lastly, using anything as a weapon could have it defined as such a weapon in legal terms.

1) There are better flashlights and better weapons.
2) A mag lite really could kill someone
3) Using something as a weapon can make it count as a weapon (Why were you walking around with a BATON/CLUB/TRUNCHEON in our peaceful city?)

If you hold the light above your head in a "prone" strike position.

And then are "forced to defend yourself" it's seen as an instinctive movement

i.e. you have no control over it, because it's almost automatic to bring your hand down ... that's how most cops get away with it.

And a sturdy tripod has more reach and you can put more power behind the swing and those magnesium heads hurt, like a lot.

If you have a Costco membership you can get a 3D LED maglite for 17.99. Also comes with a 2AA mini, which is a fantastic backup light. These lights last FOREVER but don't have the highest lumen count. They are also very focusable which is tough to find in an LED. Only my Leatherman Monarch 500 has a sharper focus and longer throw out of all of my LED's

I lovvve maglites (I use a 4D regularly myself) but there a lot of other options out there

Speaking of Costco, you can also get a 2-pack Techlite Tactical for $20. 160 lumen CREE-XPC LED in a compact kickass package, can't beat that price with a stick.

After I saw the 3D ones in the store I was like "Yeah. Those are too big." So I just got a 2D one, and I'm gonna get the glass break mods for it

I have a 4D Mag myself, but I prefer my Fenix lights which uses a Cree LED. They are expensive, but they are much more easier to conceal, brighter, more durable (not as heavy, less likely to break the bulb if it gets dropped).

$6 Harbor freight LED lights. I lose flashlights with some frequency, and I like being able to forget about them if they must be left behind for whatever reason. They're not top notch, but they're pretty damn good for the price.

Be careful, not safe.
