No chance... spoken to many Americans and they admit they didn't cover Canada or most of the rest of the world either. At least not in public schools.

We had research projects involving countries that we presented in class and at an EXPO for 5th and 6th grade history courses.

I got Columbia and Lithuania but they let the "special needs" kids do their projects on the "easy ones to research." like america, canada, mexico, england.

That's right if you are retarded you can do research on first world countries. The rest of you kids get the third world and former second world states.

I should add this was before widespread internet access (rural farmtown). Most students didn't have home computers then.

In school we took American history. Part of it involved a trip to Washington (White House, FBI building, etc.)

Two of the student's parents refused to allow them to attend based on the principle that we were being taught American history before Canadian.

In hindsight I can see their point but I wouldn't deny my children a trip to the states.
