| | | Hey folks, stupid question here. I would like to procure a map of the local enclosed drainage system, and I have been as yet unable to do so. This is quite an unpleasant feeling, but I seem to have run out of ideas and would appreciate some help.....Thanks!

| | | If you're completely striking out and need one really really bad, submit a freedom of information request to the local sewer district. Those usually cost money though, and even more if plotted on large sized paper. I've heard of some who just showed up at the office, asked for copies, and got them for free.

| | | I've been able to get sewer maps from several sources: long searching on the internet, central library, or the public works department. Most librarians will be clueless as to what you are looking for, so look up on the database things like "master drainage plan" or "stormwater management", get the call number and tell the librarians to get em for you. Or, at least for me it was as simple as walking into the public works drafting and engineering department and asking for drawings. Feed em some BS about you being interested in the history of the cities sewer system, which may be true, but dont tell em your planning on going in them. It may be a little more difficult in some cities, but that should get you started.

| | | Excellent! Abilene seems to have designed it local government for the sole purpose of making itself as convoluted as possible...Good ideas though. Thanks guys. I'll let you know how it turns out in the next few days.
