| | My very first explo =D < on 6/12/2010 5:38 PM >
| | | Hi everyone, Greetings from the french explo noob ! After years of beeing the traditional "couch/armchair explorer" (that most of people here seems to love to hate ^^) and reading the threads for months on this forum (submarine style), I decided that it was time to do my very first explo. So, yes, it is a pretty crappy one considering what I can see on some threads here, but hey ! This the rookie section, what do you expect to see ? Anyway, this was an ex-"farmer shed" (don't know how to call it) pretty close from where I live. I always found very intriguing from the exterior, with its broken roof, wide open gates and overground vegetation inside. It is close to a motorway and a quite busy road. I noted also some house not so far away from the back entrance ... Hmm, finding a nice POE won't be that easy ... And so, some sunny day, I decided to have a look around. (I have to apologize about the poor quality of the pics, I took it with my cellphone. Yes, I am an explo nOOb ...)
This was the "main gate" with the traditional "Propriété privée - défense d'entrer" which could be the french equivalent of your "No trespassing" sign. I found the overgrown vegetation the most attracting thing about this neat little building.
South side, facing the open fields.
This was the backdoor. Just when I decided to peak in, I notice a group of neighbors in the garden staring at me and wondering what the f*ck I was doing. I got a bit scared (remember: I am french) and thought that this wasn't maybe the best time to get in. There was some "merde" involved while stepping in some deep mud trying to get back to my car as casually as possible. The next sunday, I decided to get back and explore the sh*t out of this tiny shed. Minutes before a nice storm went over the place, I knew I wouldn't be bothered by some curious neighbors hanging around their garden anymore, HAHAHA.
And well, what did you expect ? Not much to see inside, a ladder and some wood planks on the wall/floor. But a nice tropical atmosphere inside after this storm. I was hoping to discover some abandoned vehicles but it seems that almost everything has been removed out of this place ;(.
And that's about it for my first explo. I finally found a friend of mine who would be willing to explore some more interesting stuff (abandoned factories around where I live). So I will probably post some more pretty soon. Anyway, keep posting guys, I still really enjoy reading your explo stories and watching your pictures from across the pond. If you have any comments, questions, suggestions, whatever, I would be pleased to read them. =) I also apologize for the possible mistakes I make while posting, I hope it won't bother you too much while reading ! ;)

| | | Welcome to UER and good luck with your future explorations and I hope no "merde" is involved.
Show up at 9:30 with 15 dollars cash and your fingers crossed. <Mandias> I think she's gonna slug that cop. -------------------------------------------------------- <Axle> "She's just not a farmer Owen, she has too much of her Father in her." <Axle> Death by Hut |

| | | @ImpulseVariable: Thank you ! =) @gr8fzy1: Yes, the interior is pretty much like a green house which looks magnificent but makes the progression kind of hard. Unless you own one of these.
I couldn't get the whole way through this building. Maybe I will try again some other day.

| | | I love when nature is taking over like that! Very nice! All explores are good, just depends on how you look at each place.

| | | That's a lot of fun. I love coming to really overgrown sites like that at various seasons and seeing the change. It really is remarkable.

| | | Thanks for the comments Bricktop & BurghEx ! @Bricktop: me too, that's what I find the most attractive: nature taking over =). @BurghEx: that's actually a good idea, maybe I will have a look there during autumn and winter to see how it looks like and takes some pics (hopefully with a better camera). I will perhaps try to do some more "global" exterior shot of the structure and try to check deeper inside next time that I go by ! Also, I am actually surprised that this building is still sitting here. It is not the kind of things you usually see around where I live, especially right next to habitations and a busy road ...

| | | Thanks Brokkenladder and Calhovin ! Unfortunately, abandonments are pretty seldom around where I live. Except a few middle age castle ruins or small WW2 bunkers sitting in middle of fields, not much industrial abandonement ... And nothing much to see in the castle ruins or bunkers (they do have a high tendency to smell like piss inside).
