Interesting day for me
I have been slowing falling into the UE obsession in a big way.
I first began in Savannah GA but a recent turn of events led me to get back into photography and archiving.
On the way to Oakwood Cemetery in Troy NY i thought id pass by a old hospital that my mother worked at when i was just born. I was a patient there for a few minor things when I was very very young. I knew it had been abandoned but I hadn't actually seen it myself in like 20 years. It closed in like 1987 I think
Needless to say, I was glad I made the trip cause I found a goldmine.
Now, where i live there really isn't much in the way of abandoned stuff on a large scale so when i found this place, i couldn't believe i hadn't thought of it earlier.

When i entered i could see the windows were busted out and boarded up and it appeared a lost cause to try and get in. Just before I left I decided to check out the doctors only parking lot and i saw a window that was just next to a small ledge that was UN-obstructed.

My mind began swirling as to what I should do.
Should I just leave cause I wasn't equipped with anything but a digital Camera and I really hadn't scoped the place out at all?
Or should I just blitz the place and take a few picks to see if a future exploration was necessary?

Well I decided to make a fun yet careless adventure and i got my camera and climbed a little ledge and hopped in the window. The place was in poor shape from the get-go but I was more concerned about getting caught seeing that I just basically parked in plain view.

Anyways, the familiar smell of a hospital was still there. it smelled like bleach and the chemicals they use to make Xrays. I had no flashlight so what I would do is take a pic with the flash on and then look at the viewfinder to decide where i was gonna go. I only needed to do this at first cause after my eyes adjusted to pitch black i could see some light from behind the boarded windows. One part of the hospital was all messed up like it was in a fire. The walls were all charred and you could see watermarks on the doors. My original idea of taking a few pictures turned into me scouring the entire first floor.

i wasn't gonna hit the second floor but curiosity, along with killing the cat, pulled me up the stairs. There was much more light up there which made it a little easier to see. There was alot of exam tables still there and desks and chairs everywhere. One room was filled with documents that i rummaged through.
They looked to be complaints patients made to the hospital. Funny thing is, one of the doctors on a complaint form is my current primary care physician.

I was there for like only 45 minutes but figured i didn't want to press my luck and chill there much longer. I figured next time I go Ill be a little more prepared. There is 5 floors and i hit the first 2

I remember from when my mom worked there that the basement was mostly patient records. I didn't have the balls to go down there but I am next time and I hope to find some of my old records if they are still around.

Overall the oddest thing about the place was that there was no posted signs or keep out signs and a window was wide open for anyone to enter which seems odd for a place this big

Below are a few pictures I took but next time I go I am gonna get more in depth and hit the basement.
Anyone wanna go that lives in this area so I'm

Pretty cool.
Though I'll be honest, I finally read your whole post after clicking on your link a half a dozen times total.
I have a very short attention span, and I had to amp myself up to read that much
Glad I finally did.
Looks like a good place to float around in.
I understand what you mean by you are not really properly equipped to go in a certain place, but you just cannot help yourself from just going in bareass with just a camera in tow been there MANY times myself.
(My last nights endeavors were a perfect example of that).

Thanks for sharing the pics and story.
