| | | Hi everyone....Kinda new to this whole thing (though I've been interested in it forever) and I'm partially posting a trip report, and partially looking for info/other pictures people might have because I haven't been able to work up the nerve to go inside yet (yeah yeah). Anyway, this place is called the Montfern house and is basically made up of about 5 acres of land and two houses, an old 1890s Victorian and a newer house that appears to be a guest house type thing. There are also several chicken coop looking things and an a semi-underground shed with what looks like a high pressure tank in it (I also saw a similar tank out in the woods). The place looks to be a little rough inside from what I could see through the windows, with part of the second floor of the Victorian collapsed (partly why I haven't been inside yet, my two trips have been solo which I don't think is a good idea). That said, I haven't noticed any signs of vandalism beyond some broken windows and a very limited amount of litter, despite it being visible from the road and a near by hiking trail. Anyone know anything about this place? Only thing I've found is real estate pages (and my dad says it's been abandoned for at least 20 years). Anyway, some pictures taken over my two trips there: So this is Montfern....from what I've found the place was built in 1890

Rest of the photos from today's trip: http://www.flickr....2/with/4755865527/ So yeah, that's all I've got for now. I'd really like to get inside at some point, but having never done this before I'm still kind of iffy about it (and as I said before, I don't want to be doing this stuff alone just in case). If anyone has any photos or info on this place I'd be very interested. [last edit 8/14/2010 9:10 PM by TurboZutek - edited 2 times]

| | | Thanks for the comments, it's appreciated. insanebuslady, none are actually HDR, but right now I'm just learning the whole RAW/Photoshop thing so I agree I'm overdoing it a bit. I'll try to settle down with it in the future. [last edit 8/15/2010 4:46 AM by Emperor Wang - edited 1 times]

| | | Went over there today, and went inside for a bit as the doors were all open (thanks to whoever was there recently). I was a little let down by the place...I didn't see the whole thing but what I did see was pretty trashed. I was hoping it was in somewhat better shape. The guest house was in good shape, but was stripped so it wasn't all that interesting. I didn't bring my tripod (that's next I guess) so my pics aren't all that great, but I got a few usable ones. Mods, would it be possible to take the location out of the thread title? While I'm sure it's not responsible, it looked like the place was partied in pretty recently, so I'd rather not continue to draw attention to it. As I said in my first post I'm new at this, so mistake on my part. Guest House

| | | Those pics certainly do not suck. Keep up the good work, tripod or no tripod. Great find. Hope to see more of the site in the future.

| | | Well done. A tripod is only important if you're into this particular hobby for the photography. And for talking your way out of a jam, maybe. Cool set.

| | | Love the soft lighting in these shots, especially filtering through the trees... A quick suggestion: number and/or title your photos in your posts, so it's easier for us comment-makers to refer to our favorites.

| | | Nicely done!! Yea it's never a good idea to go alone especially if you're mew to the whole thing. Beautiful shots though!
