The Toronto Sun guide to abandoned houses

The $1 million two-storey in the tony Beach area sticks out on Scarborough Rd. like a haunted house.

Its dented screen door hangs open and white paint peels from its large window frames. Inside, fallen drywall lies cracked and broken on the foyer’s hardwood floors.

It’s one of five city-owned properties Toronto Community Housing Corp. (TCHC) could not find a buyer for among all the social housing groups it approached.

More HERE.

Typical canoe media 'quality', maybe the reporter should take a trip to Detroit to see what abandoned houses look like.

No doubt. Or Buffalo. If you drag the little street view guy and put him on literally any street between Jefferson Ave and Bailey Ave, south of Genesee and north of the tracks you will find house, after house, after house...

It must be an urban explorer trap put out by the media...they just look too nice to be abandoned.
I'm expecting a UE version of Chris Hansen to jump out the minute anyone of us goes to check them out.

So in order to be haunted, a house has to be in really bad shape? What, ghosts can't afford a bit of class?

didnt you know ghosts cant work so they cant afford the upkeep of the house. Thats why they are pissed all the time, can you imagine spending eternity in a rundown dilapidated house.

I would think that if you know you slap a coat of paint on the insides of those houses you'd be good to go. Someone really should go and do that for teh ghosts they need some social security too you know! Helping out our resident ghosts is really just planning for our own futures!

They can't sell these properties not because of ghosts but because of the housing market...

No, its because of the ghosts. I had a sitdown with a couple of them and they told me they will not sell and if anyone tries to buy the house they will haunt it. These houses are the ghosts homes and they dont want anyone moving in and changing the house around. The ghosts get pissed and haunt people because they think we are real estate agents. If you tell them your not they will offer you a piece of angel food cake, it tastes like heaven

i work for a company that does a lot of the general contracting for TCHC...because TCHC provides a lot of low income housing, tenants use and abuse the shit outta these places, and it just costs too much to go in and completely renovate. so instead they just leave these houses vacant and rotting.

and of course, like the article says, they're just throwing them up for sale, dirt cheap, hoping someone will have the cash to buy and fix them.
