| | | Can anyone tell me if this is a FM location in the Db? It's kinda cool inside. But it's not as big as it looks when you get inside. Probably because most if it is a giant warehouse. 1.

Edit: Some history on the place, here's a bit from their History page on their website: Houghton Canada Inc. first began in 1921, as British American Fuels & Metals Ltd. in Toronto. The purpose of the company, as stated in its incorporation papers, was to " produce, procure, sell, manufacture, and manage coal, coke, peat, wood, mines, mining, and tramways. Changing its name to Production Materials Ltd. in 1924, the company continued to grow and expand, and in 1947, relocated to its present three-acre site on Symes Rd. in Toronto. Becoming E. F. Houghton & Company of Canada Ltd., the facility has undergone five major expansions and modernization to meet the ever-increasing demand for its products and services. In 1993, it adopted its current name, Houghton Canada Inc., in Keeping with its parent company's change from E.F. Houghton & Co., to better reflect its worldwide scope. Yes it is! The first shot in my set was taken from the roof of Symes.
Is that a no to being in the Db or to being impossible to get into?

| | | I really like the flooring there, and the grease!
Didn't know who said it was impossible, but these were from 8 months ago. [last edit 11/26/2010 2:17 AM by hilite - edited 2 times]

| | | Nice shots. The second one, is that upstairs somewhere? The only stairs I saw in the place lead up to some catwalks above some of the tanks, and I sort of held back from those a little just because I didn't know what was or is in them. As for being "impossible", that sort of put words in their mouth. I think the POE we found just opened recently.

It is a cool place, but the back half of the building is just a warehouse. We didn't hang around there just because I wasn't sure what they were/are storing in there.

They also have some huge tanks in the parking lot, and within the past two weeks, they've cut some up and brought two disposal bins. We didn't end up going to the office area.

| | | When I went, they had asbestos insulated pipes and tanks but there didn't seem to be any asbestos bags inside or any insulation ripped open. The office area was sparse and I did notice motion sensors so didn't bother checking it out in case they were still active seeing as the building has power and is for sale. The top floor is pretty sweet and accessible via stairs as well.

The motion sensors did work as of a few months ago although I am not sure if they are still hooked up.

| | | Thanks for the heads up about the motion sensors. That could of ended up badly. Sounds like there some activity at this place, the motion sensors are probably not hooked up as i don't see a security company monitor for free but you never know, plus the place across the street never closes, but never seen them complain about it's neighbor. Guess the security is over hyped at this location but better safe then sorry. Thanks for the info and scouting it for me

Yeah I went back today with 43rdstreet and we went up to the second floor where the offices are. There were some motion sensors that we walked past, and left soon after. I never saw any security show up, so they're probably on but not connected to anything.
