I stare at this beautiful old farm house on Leslie everyday from my cozy office. The stone is beautiful. I will add more pictures when I can get through the 3 layers of fencing. Probably on Friday.

I noticed a newb got torn apart on another post for not adding historical significance to his post. So I opted to research this place. However, I'd like to state the reason for loving and exploring this house is because I grew up in this city and I remember it when it was a loving, family home. The house next door was demolished....

Henricks- Brodie House owned by Christian Hendricks; Rose Brodie (nee Henricks). Built 1834. Coursed fieldstone with red brick voussoirs; it is considered a 2.5 storey 'bank' house. In recent years 2 ugly green-painted plywood structures were built next to the house.

You must get inside...

Historical data is not a necessity. I personally like reading about a particular location's history, but not everybody does. We're a mixed bag here. Anyway, welcome to the forum and thanks for posting. I look forward to seeing some interiors...

I also appreciate the history in most of the buildings I explore.

I found almost the exact same info you had posted on it...

-----
Leslie Street, Henricks- Brodie House DES
Coursed fieldstone with red brick voussoirs; 2 ½ stories bank house; 1834(v); 4-bay; gable roof with return eaves; gable-roofed front dormer; off-centre entry; two 6/6 and two 12/12 windows; Christian Hendricks; Rose Brodie (nee Henricks). Early 20th century porch.

Yup, it's designated by the town of RH as a "Building of Historical Significance" and I think the city owns it. With that being said, when you go to UE it, don't get busted!

The historical aspect of a location is like icing on a cupcake. It doesn't have to be there but it makes it soooo much better. Some appreciate it, others could care less. I enjoy learning the history of a location and will try to find out as much as I can.

Noting that all the windows appear to be boarded up, the photos will probably be pretty dark. Bring a spotlight with you.

+1 on the light...

+1 also on "learning the history".
That's a point I forgot to make in my earlier post. Investigating the history, whether it takes 2 minutes via google on the interwebz or days in the local historical society, is all part of exploring for me. The Coup de grâce is getting in and recording a little history of your own.

Thank you for the tips. I enjoy learning about the history as well, it's just that I remember this house in function and I just wanted to treasure it for that reason firstly and learn more about it secondly.

There is a house I'm dying to know the history on...If Anyone knows, please let me know (PM me)

It was located here:

http://maps.google.ca/maps?hl=en&tab=wl

Where the house with the tennis court is. When I was a teenager, there was an older home there on the hill. It was apparently owned by a member of local government (Councillor, mayor-elect, etc...). The 'ghost story' was that his child drowned in the pool, his wife committed suicide and so did he. The daughter was left alive....
I was dared to enter the house and spend a night. It was creepy. It still had his election signs (I can't remember his name, or position!!) and it still had so many cool items...
The pool in the back was partially filled in. I won't bore you with the rest (no ghosts came that night, just punks and I hit in a dog house to avoid them!).
But if anyone knows about the house or has pics/info, please PM me. It's Demo'd now...as you can see, the new mansion is in it's place.

#3 you have angered the snow orbs.

Remember everyone, orbs, especially snow orbs, are conclusive proof that a homicide took place at a location (the more orbs, the more homicides). This is a fact and cannot be disputed, ever.

Yeah the stone is very beautiful. I tell ya, i'd take one of these houses over these new cookie cutter homes any day.

And as for people saying finding the history of places is very important, it 100% is! I mean sometimes you just need to research and find out what you can because it'll keep you wondering.

on my way to work i pass by 2 abandoned homes i'd love to investigate, the shitty thing is both are located in a highly populated area, or have an active neighbour like right next door.

This is located at Jefferson Sideroad and Bathurst in Richmond Hill. Right next door is an active farm that owns the land next to and behind this house. the sign isn't there anymore, the driveway has grown over, and for a while i saw stuff from the garage strewn all over the driveway.

The next one is located at Rutherford and Thomas Cook Ave in Concord. The grass and trees, along with the garage are all gone, as i'm sure they will soon put houses on this property. There is a chainlink fence around it, put up either before or after people got at it to graffiti it.

Holy shit... I drive by this location A LOT and I've never noticed this place before. Might be worth checking out since it's not too far away from my house. The other one is another location I've never really noticed before... Probably always too busy watching the road... I used to drive by here on the way to work in Concord every day and even used the Gas Station across the street. My guess is that this location won't last much longer due to urban sprawl.
