| | William Clarry Heritage House < on 2/4/2011 2:24 AM >
| | | The ongoing expeditions of BeerBunny and Craven MoreHead continue..... I believe this was the 4th stop on our journey through York/Durham region. A little history I actually just discovered this evening about a house I have driven by many, many times over the past couple of years: The William Clarry House is a 1½ story brick dwelling that was constructed between 1851 and 1861. The House is a good example of a Georgian Cottage and Heritage Markham supports its preservation in its original location. As a condition of approval, Heritage Markham is requiring a restoration plan for the building. In addition to the house itself, the property also has a small hut, garage/barn and numerous old farm related items scattered about the grounds. Although we didn't actually enter the house, we were able to get a couple of shots through windows. Someone had obviously attempted entry recently though, as the fence surrounding the property had been compromised. It's fascinating to watch the urban sprawl surrounding this old home, almost starting to engulf it.... sad, but inevitable.... 1. beautiful property! suburbia close behind....
2. yours truly in the foreground.....
3. no way were we crawling over this fence
4.
5. interior shot through the window
6. interior view through back window
7. they don't make Tonka's like these anymore!
8.
9.
10. one of the number of old farming machines on the property
11.
12.
13. the burs attack!!!
14. barn/garage at rear of property
15. numerous bicycles in garage
16. interior window in the garage
17. the hut out back (with BeerBunny!)
18.
19. check out track #2.....awesome
20. some classic tunes....gotta love Merle Haggard 1. creepy yet beautiful tree on the property

| | | It's sad that I know that "Six days on the Road" song... It's from a movie but I can't remember... Oh wait, Planes, Trains & Automobiles. Nice set. Too bad suburbia is encroaching.

| | | Excellent find! Nice shots too The interior looks like it's in good shape. I would love to see more of the inside - get some shots.

| | | Thanks We really enjoy taking photos of the houses. I especially love Black and white. I think it adds some class to the old girls. My favorite part was crawling like a navy seal to the front door only to realize there was a giant padlock! ripped my pants for nothing! We would have gone in, however the smell was really bad....REALLY bad! we opted not to since we just ate and and wanted to keep our subs down. Nice posted Craven! Look forward to our next find!
I'm typing this with my middle fingers. I love the smell of mold in the fall. |

He just doesn't want you to find where he's hid them.
