40mm filter NSN 6640-01-500-7117 will provide at least 60 minutes protection from h2s (and things like VX, CS, Chlorine and anthrax too)

Trained and fit persons can function at 12%...15000ft equivalent saturation, the standard O2 level used by mountaineers, including climbs up Everst. 10% one should still be conscious and able to function, albeit with some impairment, This was tested on random US service men. tl;dr you work with with around 1/2 sea level oxygen if your in decent shape. That shows on pulse oximeter as 60-72% blood o2 saturation...buy one, they're like 40 bucks. Then you can see your blood o2 levels if your worried.

The worst hazard I encountered in a (sanitary) drain was an unexpected pool/drop off that was part of an uphill pumping station...lucky it was not running at the time or I'd be pumped too. srsly, watch out for pump stations, I have a feeling they make a rip tide seem like a swimming pool.
