Jail House Rock!

Yesterday my boy and I decided to head out of ny and do something somewhat close yet not in our backyard.
Anyone that has been here knows this isn't the best neighborhood. Tons of cops. But no crack heads or junkies as everyone always seems to mention. Maybe i just got lucky. We did hear something sound like it swooshed by but with the rain and the building falling apart it could have been anything.
After scoping it out there were 2 cop cars one in the parking lot across directly in front and another on the corner across the street. Now given i doubt they were there for explorers but once entering a cracked out jail house you look like anything to them so i can't talk badly on the cops being around.
Annoyingly enough it took about an hour for the car on the corner to go somewhere. who knows where and who cares. Apparently you can walk right in through the front but the other cop was parked out there so we entered through the side entrance. Squeezed through the gates and entered a maze of collapsed buildings. climbing and jumping with most of the floor gone and crawling around bricks. We first made it to the side buildings before entering the main jail area. Given this is a small jail. 300 cells. about 100 which are totalled. but still amazing to be in. I've done all types of places but theres something about an abandoned jail. So many rooms so many possibilities. For crack heads and some amazing shots.
I wouldn't do it alone do to the condition on the area and for the obvious there are many signs of people besides explorers going. Dustless cans of mad dog and the burnt lightbulbs were a dead give away. Some cells looked like they were in pretty good shape (considering this being a jail) for some shelter if you're homeless.
Lasted about 3-4 hours inside. Dipped back out through where we entered and through the gate and the cop car wasn't there anymore so not sure how long they actually park around it or was it just yesterday.
Enjoy the pics!

Looks like the entire building is bulging. It should come down any day now.

Oh good, my slow clap processor made it into this thing.

Those cops were probably NJIT cops. They patrol the area around there. We walked out in front of 2 one day and they didnt move. Gonna say they probably didnt care. And if you walk into the last set of cells way in back and go to about the 2nd or 3rd row, there is a bum that lives in the one cell. He/she blocks the door with a piece of cardboard or a wood. One time when i was there they popped their head out and back in.

didn't really get a chance to take a close look at the cars. Their lights were flashing but they were just parked there for at least an hour. We scoped them out from like 3 blocks away. Regardless any form of security in a jail is in no way fun for me. I didn't see the cell but then again after all of the others i didn't go into many towards the back. Would have been sorta funny to just see a head pop out would of made such a better story! lol

unless if by demo'd they meant by the earth it self then yes. Its pretty much all there, lots of closed cells. exterior walls are missing in some places but that could just have been due to walls being knocked down to remove larger pieces of equipment compromising the structure. The side buildings are collapsed to hell. getting across them was like traveling through a toilet where buildings are flushed and this one is clogged.

reporting about one bum living in here is like saying there is one wall of peeling paint in an asylum.

I am totally freaked out of homeless women or even insane women when exploring.
Maybe its because im a guy and i figure if i had to i could fight another man or at least defend myself against him. But with a woman i feel like she'd be chasing me around like a scooby cartoon. I've never hit a woman so i wouldn't know if this would be a situation where it would happen. It would just be crazy if she just starts screaming some craziness or starts coming over with a swinging cane. do you just walk away? smack the cane outta her hand ? throw some empty bottles across the room and hope she follows? wheres the line!?

Kick her in the stomach and steal her last Malt Liquor.
