Belgian House/Randall Farm - Whatever you called it, it's gone

...and R.I.P. This place had so much to offer for a satisfying rurex: Bigass barn in various stages of decay. Interesting outbuildings. God-awful decor. Dark forbidding corners. I explored it over two days in November 2010 for about a total of 5 hours. I was completely at peace and alone for the visits. Little did I realize that those two explores would be my last there...razed to the ground in April 2011. I must have taken 50+ pics that were keepers, but here's 20 personal favorites of a place many of you enjoyed and documented.

Great photos man! I really like 5 and 13.

It's not where it goes, it's where it can lead you to.

I cried while looking at these.. My family owned the place back in the early '50s or so... Sold it after a nasty divorce. I can't believe it's gone. The barn is coming down soon I've heard. This was my first RuRex explore.. I went back over 20 times in only a year. This is also the first place I ever went solo'ing. Did this place alone about six or seven times... I loved it. <3 Never made it into the basement though.

@ Skye: Yes, I know this place means/meant a lot to you. I have another 30 or so pics of it that you can perhaps see sometime. The basement was interesting because I walked down into pitch dark, and the flash picked up that chair in the corner which made me jump lol. Even more fun was turning my back on the dark to snap the one of the stairs up to the outside.

Great shots. I could not figure out why the front room had that mickey mouse wallpaper lol...seemed like a strange choice for the first room you enter? Also, the upstairs room that was pink, yellow, green and blue...just too much. Oh, and the green and purple bathroom. I thought I was having an acid flashback!

I think the house was used as a day care or something because the bathroom door had one of those "Washroom" signs on it that you see in public schools and such.

Oh yeah, you can see it in one of my pics. I remember that now. Strange, though...it was the only bathroom. So why label it? Maybe they thought it was a pantry?

What a great barn

The barn still stands but someone (or some people) have stripped most of the boards off. This was my first UE shoot so sad to see it gone as well.

I would consider this RE, rather than UE.

It's too bad that it's gone. Although I found it fairly boring I did visit it a couple of times over a four-year period and it was nice to see it every time I drove down Hwy 7.

Thanks. Yes, a rurex on the edge of an urban center, so we can call it a rururbex I guess lol. I just had so much fun with the camera there, is why I guess I enjoyed it so much. Kept finding something different every time despite there being no belongings, furniture (by the time I got there) or derelict vehicles. Would have liked to have visited before it became a trashed palace, though!
