Abandoned Ford Dealership at Dixie and Dundas

Hey uer friends, lately ive been obsessing over this one place in south east Mississauga where I live. Its an abandoned large ford dealership near the intersection of dixie road and dundas street, near the future shop/harveys/part source. As far as i know, this place got closed up by ford in 2009-2010 due to the recession. From the roadside of it, there is a sign indicating future development plans. I hope to soon go out there and have a look at it, snap a picture while im at it too.

Now, the reason im reaching out to the forums, is i'm not a full member, and therefore cant see if its listed on the location database, and whether anyone's explored it yet from here. Does anybody have useful knowledge to share with me on this place? Either way, i am determined to get inside, and i've recruited a few friends from school who are down to go with me.

On the topic of car dealerships abandoned in the recession, has anybody checked out the old GM dealership at Lakeshore road and Dixie Road? Its not as big or impressive as the ford dealership, but its still on my list of places i must explore before they're torn down. Any info on this one would be appreciated as well. Also, there are a number of abandoned places along this part of lakeshore road such as a motel, and a small house.

Just posting cuz i figured it never hurt to ask for information from the community, prior to exploring.

this is what the ford dealership looks like.

Oh and also, if these are not yet locations on the full member database, lets make them into locations, and explore them and take lots of photos.
Keep in mind, both these dealerships have been left to sit for the past two or three years by their respective auto giants. The recession is over, and the car companies are no longer receiving bailouts/trying to avoid bankruptcy. This means that they can focus on dealing with their old stuff... Both of these locations have redevelopment signs posted out front, visible to the major road. I fear that soon they will be facing a wrecking ball.

Thanks for any help and happy exploring!

All I can tell you is to go there. Walk around the place. Try all the doors. Check it at night if you're more comfortable since less risk of being seen and if you find a way in, then go back during the day.

If you go at night and check for lights inside like Exit signs or the odd fluorescent... power usually, but not always, means alarm.

I'm personally waiting for the power to be turned off at a dealership near my work, been watching this place for over a year.

The one by my work is nowhere near Mississauga and I'm sorry to say that it wouldn't be my first dealership either. Would link the old thread but it's Private, sorry.

They aren't as exciting as you would expect them to be. The one you posted seems about the same size as the one I've been to and hopefully for you there's more machinery left behind. The one by my work is tiny with only a 1-3 car showroom, I'm sure it's mostly offices with a tiny garage area.

If I check it out it will be on my way to or coming back from work. There's no way I'm going that way on a weekend

For anyone who's interested, yesterday I was at lakeview, and while in the area i got a chance to check out the GM dealership location at Dixie and lakeshore. Next to no visible security measures in place when I was there yesterday. The only downside is all the likely points of entry are out in the open and fully visible to the intersection, so planning your trips time of day is important.

On the opposite side of lakeshore road from the dealership, Nestled into the forest of Marie Curtis Park, there is what appears to be some kind of abandoned industrial building with fences all around (two pictures included bellow)

Together these two places make two big and interesting locations worth checking out that are literally right next to each other.

Also, just a 5 minute walk up lakeshore road from here, there is a small abandoned house at Hydro road and lakeshore (picture included below), and there is also an abandoned motel at Ogden and Lakeshore (picture not included below but available on google maps). If you go around back of the motel you will find what appears to be an 80s or 90s Buick hearse that has been abandoned (the kind of car they drive coffins around in)

In addition to these four locations on lakeshore road, there are two abandoned houses in the residential area directly north of this part of lakeshore. They are each very close by and would only be a 2 minute detour for an explorer with a car, 10 minutes if your on foot. One of the houses is heavily vandalized, the other is very very recent.

If you want more info on any of the six locations ive mentioned id be happy to help you out in a PM.

Im finding that this semester is keeping me really busy, so I hope that other people will go and explore these places and share their photos, as i dont see myself having enough time to thoroughly explore all of them.

I'll have to take a look. Hopefully this week I'll get a chance to check these out. PM me specifics on all of them if you haven't already.

The sign said "Anybody caught trespassin will be shot on sight"
So I jumped on the fence and I yelled at the house,

My advice is try the roof of those dealerships if all else fails, I can't tell you how many times I've found unlocked roof access doors after a quick climb. Best of luck!

Well all the doors are locked in the dealership. That only leaves the roof, which would have to be done at night, as you said there's a lot of traffic there. As for the building across the street, it's actually an active power station. It just looks derelict because public utility buildings aren't used very frequently, so they don't receive much maintenance. The motel is boarded up airtight, I don't think there's any loose boards considering it's also right on Lakeshore road. And I didn't get a chance to check out any of the houses.

Aww man, bummer Ya it seems like the GM dealership is sealed up tight. However, I brought it up with a friend who lives near dixie and dundas, and according to him, the ford dealership is accessible from the back because hes been in it. Sucks about the power building... Why do they have the property and road into it all fenced up and blocked tho..?

Even tho the motel is boarded up, its easy to get on the roof via the old tv antenna around the back, and it makes for a nice view at night
