This hospital is located in the middle of Athens, the county seat of Henderson county. It was abandoned in the 1980s and replaced by the East Texas Medical Center Athens, south of town. The structure began as a one story 2-wing building. It was added onto and now has an addition with three stories. The second and third are mostly patient rooms. This part of the building has two elevator shafts.

I'm sorry to say, this location was not refurbished, it was razed last month (3/16). Another one bites the dust. -DA

HCMH was opened in 1948 and served as the main hospital for Henderson County Texas till 1982. The building was vacated and all medical treatment was moved to the current East Texas Medical Center located on the south side of town.
**Update** Building is being repurposed and there are two large fifth wheel RV's on site that are likely home to the remodeling contractor.
