     History
1886 - The hospital is established by Dr. Martha Ripley in response to the exceptionally high mortality rates for women in childbirth. The hospital is originally located in a house at 316 15th Street South, but it quickly outgrows that location and moves to 2529 4th Avenue South.

1896 - The hospital purchases a house on 5 acres of land at the corner of Glenwood and Penn Avenues.

1909 - The hospital builds the Marshall Stacy Nursery.

1910 - The hospital builds the Babies' Bungalow.

1911 - The hospital builds the Emily Paddock Cottage.

1912 - Dr. Martha Ripley dies on April 18 of a respiratory infection.

1916 - In 1916, the current building is completed. The hospital was renamed from Maternity Hospital to Ripley Memorial Hospital.

1957 – The hospital closes due to low occupancy and funding problems. The hospital building was sold to Children's Hospital of Minneapolis.

1980 - The former hospital buildings are listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

1980-99 – Various uses of the former hospital take place, including a senior care facility.

2007 - The building is redeveloped and opened as Ripley Garden by Aeon, a Minneapolis organization that provides affordable housing.
