The B.F. Goodrich Corporation was a leading supplier of landing gear for civilian and military aircraft. Many of those products were made right here. There is some indication that BFG had decided to close half the plant prior to 1999 and keep only the machine shop running. But negotiations with the labor unions fell through causing them to scrap this operation entirely. Its for sale now the appraised value around $4.7 million.

Im not sure how many employees worked here, it is not as many as the size of the plant would suggest. Many of the large and repetive operations were automated and there was a tire shop and a plating shop on site. There was even an electrical power sub-station built here for the former company Menasco Mfg. This plant also served as a FAA certified service facility for landing gear maintenance and repair work.

Its a big location at 464300 square feet and 41.7 acres. There is some vandalism but no recent vagrant habitation that I saw. Be advised electrical power is still on and the sub-station is putting out a mighty hum.

UPDATE 7/3/2006: some things have changed, new security signs posted around fence and some fresh damage to front windows. I spotted someone riding a bicycle around inside the fence, turned out to be a security guard on a mountain bike
