A fairly old-fashioned looking farmhouse, with much of its furniture intact (from looking in the window). There are about nine different little shacks/sheds grouped around the property, and one very large barn/stables. There is TONS of abandoned stuff lying around, farm machinery, even a sweet car I wouldn't mind driving.

Tons of old farm machinery (more than 10 large pieces) just lying around; two or three tractors, lots of attachments, tiller, etc. It's just a veritable museum. The house itself appears to have almost all its furniture intact; dining set, kitchen appliances. There are about 9 different little wodden sheds of various sizes in various groupings on the property. Why so many? No clue. LOTS of abandoned stuff, it's great!

Looks like it used to be a functional farm; there's a huge field just out back, and tons of farm machinery. I'm guessing the owners passed away, and their urban kids don't want the family farm anymore, so they're waiting till they can sell it. That would explain why all the stuff's still there; the kids would obviously not need it.

According to minutes taken from a meeting of our lovely City counsellors, this place is a really old farmhouse, the "Diller-Rittenhouse" property. In 2002, there was a motion put up to have this place (along with a couple others in the area) designated historical sites.

Four-Alarm Blaze Breaks Out Near Toronto Zoo Sunday November 4, 2007 CityNews.ca Staff Firefighters worked hard overnight to put out an intense four-alarm blaze that broke out near the Toronto Zoo. Flames were shooting high into the sky when fire crews arrived on scene just before midnight Saturday to Beare Road in Rouge Valley Park. The blaze destroyed a small barn and an abandoned house. Firefighters had to get their water from tanker trucks, because there weren't any fire hydrants in the area. "We're being assisted by Markham Fire and Pickering Fire," explained Toronto Fire Div. Com. Lorne Buckingham. "They've helped us out with three tankers. Our water supply is running constantly." So far, there's no word on the cause or the amount of damage.
